"I will find you... and I will kill you- AW FUAGH!"
"HAHAHA YOU IDIOT!"
"MARK, YOU'RE NEXT!"
"NO!"
~~~
"IS IT STILL FUNNY? IS IT STILL FUNNY BITCH?" I screamed into Mark's ears as he struggled from under my grasp and Jack and Katlyn tried to pull me off of him. This continued for a good while until we heard a knock at the door.
Jack let go of my leg and ruffled his hair as he made his way to the door. Mark, Katlyn, and I were silent but didn't dare move from our current positions. We could hear Jack quietly talking to whoever was on the opposite side of the door and waited for the door to close for me to continue my attack on Mark.
"Alright, my bad. We're so sorry." Those were the last words we heard him say before the door closed and Jack started walking back. We questioned the encounter and he said it was the receptionist, coming to inform us about a 'noise complaint.'
We stood in silence as I quietly climbed off of Mark and Katlyn let go of my foot. I looked back and forth between my temporary roommates and said the first thing that came to my mind.
"Way to go, Mark."
"HEY!"
~~~
"So, which way do we turn here?"
"Left."
I held the directions in my hand to a restaurant close to the neighborhood where Brielle's location was last pinpointed. We finished getting ready, showered and all, and Mark was driving the rental car towards our mystery location, with me in the front seat next to him, giving him directions.
The whole time we were riding in the car, Katlyn wouldn't stop asking questions. It annoyed me, but there was a small part of me that couldn't help but spiral into the possible answers to these questions.
"What if she doesn't tell us everything?"
"What if she runs away and hides from us?"
"I mean, she knows this place more than we do, so she could easily find somewhere to run and hide..."
I shook my head to rid myself of the negative thoughts clouding my brain. After a few more turns and miles, we finally stopped in the parking lot of an aged beige building. On the front was a vintage LED sign that read "TACOS" and large windows showing the inside of the restaurant.
We rushed out of the car and peered through the windows, looking for the slightest glimpse of purple hair or the familiar smirk that always decorated her face. I glanced all-around and between my phone and the view of the restaurant but to no avail.
"DAMN IT! She's not in there... Why does her location say she's here?" I questioned while I stared at the pinging picture on my screen. The feeling of disappointment settled into my empty stomach when I heard the bell on the door ring as someone walked in. The smell of fresh meat and vegetables wafted out and my stomach rumbled.
"Probably just gettin' some lunch. Tacos sound hella tasty right now!" I could practically hear the saliva dripping from Jack's mouth. We all agreed to have lunch here while we waited for another idea to pop into our heads about how to find Brielle.
We sat at a booth and I was voted to be the one to go up to the cash register and order.
The ordering went by slowly and quietly when I remembered something that Brielle told me.
'Puesta Del Sol is a SMALL town. Like, really small. Like, if you're driving through and you blink, you'll miss it. And everyone knows everyone. So, you can ask anyone who lives there about me or my family, they'll ALL know who you're talking about... Trust me, I couldn't stay there for the rest of my life...'
