"He can come."
The air was still and the entire park seemed to stop as I glanced at each of our party member's faces.
Mark and Jack were clearly surprised: wide-eyed and mouths agape. Katlyn was also shocked, but she had a little bit of pride in her eyes. Luke, with his stupid face and stupid smile and stupid everything... he had the slyest grin on his face and just a look of pure, sick satisfaction. And finally, Brielle.
Oh, Brielle...
I can barely describe the look on her face. It was a mix of anger, confusion, and most of all, just pure disappointment. It's the exact face of "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" that you don't want to ever see.
The yelling and the screaming stopped, the world continued moving, and it was time for breakfast.
"Well, now that that's settled, let's go find somewhere to eat. I saw online one of these places has Mickey Mouse shaped waffles," Katlyn started walking down the side of Main Street, with Luke joining her side soon after. Not before winking back at me first, of course.
The rest of us followed behind, silent and awkward. Like we were complete strangers once again.
As Katlyn and Luke searched for the restaurant, we trailed behind in silence. For the first time, since I'd met every single person in that group, we were all quiet. Brielle wouldn't even make eye contact with me. She trailed behind the whole group while I walked slightly in front of her with Mark and Jack. I looked at the two men beside me.
They didn't help much. So I decided to fall back and talk to her.
She stayed silent as I moved next to her and kept looking around at everything and everyone, but me. I let out a deep sigh and gathered the courage to talk to her.
"Look, I know you don't always like losing arguments-"
"C'mon, Y/n... Seriously? After everything he's done and how he's made you feel and what he's ruined for you, you're just okay with him eating breakfast with us! I just... I just don't want you to get hurt again..."
I felt the guilt shower over me but gave her a soft smile. I knew she meant well, so I guess I can't be too weird about her feeling mad or disappointed in my decision.
"I know... but I'm a big girl. I can make my own decisions and I know what I'm doing. We're just gonna have some breakfast with him and he'll be on his way... Maybe he'll even take Katlyn with him,"
"Aw, c'mon... side from the fact that she's on that hoe bag's side, she's a great person! Why are you still so against her?" Brielle said with a scoff and a bit of laughter. I shook my head like a little kid who just got offered asparagus by their parents.
"I'm sorry! But, she's just... not my cup of tea," I explained as she just laughed at me and bumped my shoulder, "You don't even drink tea."
"Exactly."

"Ooh, everything looks so good. I don't know how I'll be able to pick,"
The menus displayed a whole list of options along with pictures accompanying a few select dishes. Options ranging from breakfast - croissants, bacon, eggs, toast, waffles - to early brunch/lunch options - sandwiches, salads, burgers, and pasta. My mouth could barely contain the drool as I tried to make up my mind on what to order.
There was a drink bar we could make our way over to once we have our orders placed. Brielle and Jack volunteered to go and get drinks for everyone before anyone else could open their mouths to step up.
