Chapter Six

August 2014

Odette's heels clicked on the old wooden floor. The house had a collection of dust coating everything, but nothing had really been touched. She placed her suitcase down and walked towards the kitchen, she stood in front of the run and over the spot where her mother had passed. She found it hard to look at the trap door but when she opened it a flood of memories hit her, causing her to slam it shut and sigh.

Odette had to run to a local store in town if she was going to live in the old house. It had been so dirty that she could barley see. Odette was determined to get it all back to normal, no matter the cost. "Ce sera quarante euros." the man behind the counter said. Odette handed over the money and collected the bags without a single word.

Cleaning the home had been harder than she had imagined, the dust seemed to be everywhere and she had killed more mice in the last hour than she had in her entire life. The entire process took days but when it was done she smiled and felt a sense of nostalgia. The yellow walls brought her back to playing with her mother and father in the late evenings. "Merde. Je vais bien." She smirked at the now new house.

Now that is was done she almost didn't want to stay, it was as if she was able to finally move on. It hardly felt fair, She had spent days on making this new and now she wanted to leave more than ever. Odette wanted to go home to Esme and Carlisle, but she knew she wasn't wanted there. It broke her dead heart each time she thought about it.

Word had spread around that Aro had searched high and low for her, Odette had wanted him to move on but she couldn't even do the same. Daily she thought of her mate and here he was. Odette had hoped he was living well but she knew it was a stretch to think he was. Odette had been depressed, she still wouldn't feed. It was her bodies way of telling her to get back near him. She just couldn't bring herself to do it. The pain in her chest made her feel sick and at times she wanted to run to Italy, but she didn't. A small part of her hoped this is the next place he would check, although he did not even know about it.

When Esme crashed through the front door Odette was slightly disappointed it hadn't been Aro. "One of the neighbors called and said you were here." Esme wrapped her arms around her daughter. "I'm only here for a few hours." She says. Esme and Odette sat for a while and talked about life. Odette told of her adventures in Scotland and India and Esme spoke of how fast Renesmee had grown. "I can tell you are hurting. Why not go to him?" Esme asks.

"I don't really know." Odette crosses her legs and leans back into the couch. Esme leans towards her daughter, her eyes narrowed on her.

"He has been looking for you." Esme says with a smile on her lips. Odette leans foreward with a wild smile on her face and happiness in her eyes for the first time in a while. "Go to him."

When Odette arrived at the Volturi she was greeted by Jane who seemed shocked to see her. They moved quickly to the throne room where the three bothers would be. Odette looked around at everything quickly hoping that Aro would be happy to see her, she would be incredibly happy to see him. Odette caught glimpse of him and they both froze, the couldn't move. "Odette?"

"The one and only." Odette says with a crack in her voice. Aro quickly walks up to her and grabs her by the waist. Odette giggles and places her forehead on his. The two were truly a sight to behold, nobody had seemed more in love. His lips placed on hers and that familiar soft glow burned in her and she was alive again.

"Mon rayon de soleil." He whispers to her. She smiles and kisses him again, their electricity glows off of them and everyone in the room is suddenly happy. Aro would insist that it had been Odette's smile that did that, it always had made him happy.

They went to Aro's wing of the castle, he had left his position early to spend his time with her. Odette made him feel like a teenager skipping class to be with his girlfriend. The two did what seemed like everything together that day, but when the day neared the end Odette had to leave. She had to return to France, to her home. "Stay with me." Aro begged his mate. "Live here. Rule beside me? I'm not asking you to marry me yet, Odette. Just stay." He whispered.

Odette didn't feel guilty leaving that house there in France. The yellow walls held demons that she would just never be able to face, staying with Aro meant that she would always be loved. Odette could never tell Aro no anymore, and she never would pass up the opportunity to stay with him. "Lay with me?" She asked him and sat on the bed.

"We don't sleep." Aro points out the obvious, Odette smiles and pats the bed. Aro raises and eye brow but lays next to her anyway. "Why are we doing this?"

"Pour savourer dans notre existence." She says and moves a stray black hair from his face. HE knew he was ready for eternity, as long as it was with her.
