Cheer Up!

"Yume's been sad all week," Alice whispered one day at class "I wish there was something we could do,"

"How about we get the no good kind of best friend over here?" Haruka wondered "Maybe that will cheer her up,"

"Uh, how?" Kanata asked "We don't know where to find him. He could be anywhere in Kalos,"

"Well what would make her happy?" Raichi asked

"A letter," They sighed

"Oh! I know! Pokemon!" said Sena "We'll go catch a new partner for her, or better yet, bring her along on the expedition!"

"Uh ... what?" Haruka asked

"We're going to catch some Pokemon!" Raichi translated

"Isn't it great we get to go Pokemon looking for school work?" said Raichi

"I guess," Yume shrugged "I'm not really in the mood for Pokemon searching right now,"

"Come on," said Haruka "Haruka really wants to have fun! I brought stuff for a picnic later! Pokemon food, pokepuffs, you name it!"

"How about healthy food?" Sena asked

"Uh ... I have an Oran berry,"

"I'm not really hungry," said Yume

Kanata's eyes widened. "You are a wreck aren't you?"

She sighed.

"How about we split up?" said Raichi "We'll cover more ground that way,"

"And we'll meet back at school in two hours!" said Alice

"Sounds like a plan," said Kanata "Let's go!"

They all split up, but Alice stuck around with Yume. "Hey," said Alice "Do you want to talk about it? I'll listen,"

"Rockruff! "

"Ralts! "

"I don't want to talk," Yume replied

"Oh," They started walking. "I know it's hard to say goodbye to someone when you promised to be together for ever," Yume didn't reply. "Um ... do you ... do you want to know why I brought Ralts here?" Yume shrugged and the strangest thing happened to Alice: She was angry. "It's because of my mom!" she said with a hint of a temper "We promised to be together for all of time and she gave me Ralts, back when she was just an egg. But then -"

"She left?"

"She died," said Alice "She's gone, she left. Ralts hatched a week after her death and that's why I brought her! It felt like ... like I was bringing a part of her with me," Alice hugged Ralts close to her as tears fell from her eyes. "You're not alone, okay?"

Yume sighed. "I think I'd rather be alone," And with that Yume ran off, a stray shadow following behind her.

Yume had stripped exactly 57 flowers of their petals. Actually, make that 58.

Yume moved onto her next flower and started picking all the petals off. She sighed, what was the point?

"What was the point indeed," said a voice

"Huh?" Yume looked around. It got a lot less ... colorful then she remembered. Almost grey. And did she say that last thing out loud? She was sure she was just thinking.

"You were," said a voice

"Alright who are you?" Yume asked, this time out loud.

"Just ... a shadow," the voice answered "And I have to say, you've been so down lately, and over one friend,"
