Their Return - Chapter Nine - Trust in a New Plan

          

We had gathered in and were talking.

"I've been blind not to trust in Aslan, he helped us before and I'm sure he will again" Peter began

"We have lost numbers greatly and I have no one to blame but my own. Which is why instead of attacking we will defend. But first we need to find Aslan. Lucy" Peter turned to her

"Will you go" she nodded

"Cakes and kettledrums that's your next big plan. Sending a little girl into the darkest parts of the forest? Alone!" Trumpkin questioned hastily

"She won't be alone" I replied putting a hand on her shoulder Susan did the same

"And its our only hope" Peter added. Trumpkin stood in front of the three of us.

"Haven't enough of us died already" he asked

"Nikabrik was my friend too. But he lost hope, Queen Lucy and Isabelle haven't and neither have I" I smiled gently at Trufflehunter

"For Aslan" Reepicheep held his sword to his chest

"For Aslan" a bear did the same with his paw.

"Then I'm going with you" he stated Lucy put a hand on his shoulder

"No we need you here"

"We have to hold them off to Lucy, Susan and Isabelle get back"

"If I may" Caspian piped up and we all looked at him he stood up "Miraz may be a tyrant and a murderer but as a king he is subject to the traditions and expectations of his people." he then looked at me for a moment before looking back at my brother. "There is one in particular that may help us buy some time."

"Okay, I'm all ears" Peter said Caspian looked confused

"He mean's his listening...we all are" I joined my brothers side.

"Challenge him to one on one combat in front of his council and he will have no choice but to agree. if he denied he would be seen as weak"

"But what if Peter wins he's not going to like that they will back on their word" i asked

"Then we plan for that as well." Peter replied "okay first I will need a scroll and some ink.

"Their forces out number our own so we need to use this too our advantage." Peter said once Edmund left. I looked at the structure around us and smiled

"Black hole" i stated Peter looked at me

"I'm not one for stratagems but I think I might have something I might work. If I may" Peter moved aside.

"If you look at the surroundings you'll see most of the underground is held up by pillars. If we have a legion here and at the right time we can create a hole. However this has to be timed perfectly because you have about 10 seconds after impact of the blow and the men on top before it collapses." I thought about it for a moment.

"There is a entrance here. If you start caving in the pillars from here it will hold them off. Giving archer enough time to take majority of the first lines. I also think we should use what griffins we have left and shout arrows from the air" I finished Peter and Caspian looked shocked

"What?" I asked

"I thought you couldn't stand battles" Caspian was the first to speak.

"I can't but this site is a piece of history they are attacking not only us but it as well. This isn't attacking its defending history" I shrugged I thought in defence and sometimes defence was the best offence.
