in order for this story to make sense, there are two things you need to know about wendy carter-greene:
1. she always somehow comes second to peter parker.
2. she's never lost a bet.
so when peter accidentally challenges her to become friends with spider-man, wendy knows she'll have to do anything it takes to win that bet. even if that means putting herself in harm's way.
