You look back in your apartment one last time, which you weren't going to see for a couple hours. And you didn't want any explosions to happen while you were away. You scan the room, before walking out of your apartment. You locked the door before walking down the hall of your apartment building.
As you step onto the elevator and select 'Lobby', you get really excited for what was to come. If today went well, you would be in a T.V. show! But not just any show, no. We're talking 'Voltron: Legendary Defenders', one of the best T.V. shows you've seen in a while. You're a big fan, but not as big of a fan as Erika. You step off the elevator and down the lobby. You say thank you to the man who held the door for you, then continued walking down the sidewalk.
You smile as you remember when she convinced you to watch it with her. How her dirty blonde hair bounced as she slightly jumped, her green eyes twinkled with excitement. She looked like a kid in a candy store. But the candy store was as big as Jupiter. You couldn't say 'no' to her after her fangirling moment.
As you entered her neighborhood of houses, her house came into view. You ran the rest of the way and practically flew up the steps on her front porch. She lived in her own house, but had some support from her family, so her house was bigger and nicer than yours. You knocked a couple times and waited.
The door creaked open. Erika was bare foot, and her dirty blonde hair was up in a very messy bun on the top of her head. She was wearing an oversized baby blue shirt that was partially tucked into her short, black shorts. She yawned.
"(Y/n), you're here early..." she said. Her voice was groggy, like she had just woken up, even though it was 10 in the morning. "Good morning to you, too." You teasingly replied with a small smile. She smiled at you and opened her door wider for you to come in. You stepped into the rather large house and was immediately hit with a strong scent of coffee.
You heard Erika close the door behind you as she walked down the hall. When you followed you found her sitting on the floor in her living room, already hunched over her laptop. Scattered around her are a bunch of tech stuff that you've never seen, a coffee pot and mug, and a small coffee stain.
You laughed a little as you noticed how much alike her and Pidge were. Sure, she forced you to take a 'Which Voltron character are you?' quiz and she got Pidge, but you thought that the quiz was probably bogus. I mean, you got Shiro and in no way did you think you possessed any trait like him.
But for Erika, you wouldn't be surprised if she was Pidge in another reality. Intelligence, sleep deprivation, a sense of daring, her curiosity, she's got it all!
"Can you grab the portal stabilizer and hook it up to the energy radiation monitor?" She asked you. Who-to-the-what-now? You thought to yourself.. "Sure, just let me put the traction metaphoner into the yout plug!!" You sarcastically replied, and made frantic confused hand gestures. She smiled and playfully rolled her eyes.
"Put the blue and black cord into the white outlet." She clarified. "There we go. You have to put it in a language I actually understand." You say as you put the cord into the outlet.
You hear a faint buzzing from Erika's laptop. You tried to peak over her shoulder at the screen. "There's Pop tarts in the kitchen if you want it." She said, and as curious you were about the beeping, you loved Pop tarts. So you quickly got up and walked into the connected kitchen.
Sure enough you found an unopened package of Pop tarts on the counter. You opened the package and sunk your teeth into one of the Pop tarts. You were delighted to find that it was strawberry. As you happily munched on the Pop tarts, you heard the buzzing turn into a beeping, which was quickly muted by a few clicks from Erika.
"Everything Okay, Erika?" You ask her. She muttered something under her breath. "Yeah, it's fine." Her tone of voice sounded rather worried, which, in turn, worried you. Even though you were the one going through the portal, you wanted Erika to be safe. God knows what could happen and you wouldn't be there to help her.
"(Y/n)! I'm almost done!" She called to you. You finished the last of your Pop tarts and walked back into the living room. She was holding a (f/c) scarf. "I need you to put this on." She pushes the scarf into your hands, forcing you to take it. "Um.... why?" You ask her, cocking an eyebrow.
"If someone finds you, they won't be able to see your face, making them unable to report you to the police, stopping you from getting stuck there forever." She replies. "I think your overthinking." You say to her, examining the scarf. "I am teleporting you close enough for you to see the Garrison and confirm you were there, but far enough so you will go undetected unless you do something stupid. Knowing you, it is highly possible-"
"Hey!!" "-Which is why you have the scarf." She finishes. "Meanie." You mutter under your breath as you wrap the scarf around your neck. She turns away from you and starts rummaging around her pile of technology. "I'll also need evidence that it happened, so take this too." She says and tosses a camera at you while still facing away from you. You fumble to catch it, but you did catch it, so it's still a win in your book.
"You'll also need this." She says, and faces you. In her hand was a cool-looking bracelet. It had big black squares that took up the width of the bracelet, and glowing cyan lines divided the squares.
"Woah... cool bracelet!" You complimented. "And communicators!" She said as she clasped it onto your wrist and pressed one of the squares that turned out to be a button. A holographic screen with Erika's face popped up from the square and floated in the air. You peeked around and saw that Erika had the same bracelet and the same holographic screen.
"This is like FaceTime, but cooler!!" You exclaimed. "Yeah." She said laughing a bit as she tapped the button on her bracelet, making both yours and her screen disappear. "And the best part is that we're twinning so hard right now!" You both laugh at your statement.
A beep comes through Erika's laptop. She says as she plops down in front of her laptop once again. "Alrighty. It's ready." She says. "Help me pull in the portal stabilizer mechanism."
"The metal hula hoop that will outline the portal? Yup." You say, and she sighs. "I give up. Yes, the metal hula hoop." She got up and walked over to the other side of the room, where the portal hoop was leaning against the wall. You and Erika lifted the abnormally heavy hula hoop and placed it on two metal stands that were hooked up with her computer.
As you made sure the portal ring could stay up on its own, Erika sat down in front of her laptop and was clicking away at the keys. She soon looked up at you, while you were staring at the portal.
"You ready?" She asked. You smiled and nodded, as you raised your scarf over your mouth. You were a bit nervous, but mainly excited. Erika must've sensed the nervousness part, because then she said "Hey, (Y/n)," She started. You looked at her, eyebrows raised as you waited for her to continue.
"Just don't do anything stupid." She warmly said with a genuine smile. You smiled back. "No promises. Let's remember, you're not gonna be there." You teased. "What would I do without you?" She asked.
"Probably keep your sanity." You reply. She laughs. "But other than that, nothing. So you better bring me back!" You tell her. "Fine..." She says. "Just don't screw up anything." She says and clicks a button, which opens a beautiful green-blue void.
You step up to it. You take one last glance at Erika, who gave you a reassuring smile. You took a deep breath, and stepped into the swirl of color. One second you are floating in a colorful void, next you were standing on a dirt hill, looking at the stars.
To your left, was a land of desert. On your right was a giant building in the distance, with planes and space shuttles surrounding it. You look up with a big smile on your face as you see an odd space craft quickly coming in for a crash landing still falling in the sky. You should be worried about the craft, because it looked like it wasn't going to land too far away. But all you could do was smile and think to yourself;
Welcome, to the world of Voltron.
