The next day Fire Spirit and Knight Cookie set off far away from where they had once settled. By now every time Knight would turn back he could no longer see the smoke from the once burning kingdom he had fled from. Knight let out a soft and gentle sigh, feeling awful that he had left his fellow citizens and companions behind, but, what could he do! Pistachio had been the one who sent him away! Was he supposed to blame her for this?
Certainly not, Knight thought to himself.
Besides, he had no idea where would he be today if he wasn't evacuated from the kingdom. Maybe he would have been turned to ashes like the others, but, remembering the place they were traveling to, he was certain either way he would be facing the burning death itself.
All these thoughts and visions mocked and taunted Knight's mind until Fire Spirit noticed, turning back to his forced friend and raising one of his 'brows'.
"You okay? I'm pretty sure the heat doesn't kick in UNTIL we get to the valley." Fire Spirit spoke in his mischievous, yet, charming tone.
"I'm fine, just slightly nervous about heading to your 'home'.." Knight retorted calmly, his voice loud as always.
"It's not so bad once you ignore the heat- and lava- and smoke." The flame haired cookie continued to speak, hoping he could make some conversation with Knight, not knowing why he had a certain desire to become closer to this cookie.
Knight couldn't help but smile at Fire Spirit, rolling his cyan colored eyes playfully.
"Easy for you to say, fuego." He teased lightly.
Fire Spirit couldn't help but play along with the jokes, gasping dramatically and turning back to Knight Cookie.
"How dare you disrespect me, Rapunzel!"
Fire Spirit cackled as the two continued to bicker childishly until their voices were drowned out by the roars inside the Dragon's Valley.
FS stopped right before he crossed the line between the Primeval Jungle and the Valley. He took in a deep breath, looking back at Knight, who was trying to calm down his steed by petting its muzzle over and over again. Fire Spirit turned his attention back to the fiery valley, having second thoughts about bringing Knight here. Thinking it was too dangerous for such a delicate and precious cookie like him, however, he knew that after traveling so far they certainly couldn't turn back now. FS floated into the valley, passing lakes and puddles of steaming lava, making sure Knight nor his horse stepped in it by mistake. He guided them deeper and deeper into the area, soon arriving at a small, yet scary, dark red castle.
"This is my place. So we'll be staying here most of the time."
FS declared strongly, opening the entry gate easily before hovering inside.
The castle was extremely dark and gloomy. No other colors were present except for black and red, and the only light inside the castle was from lamps of stored lava hanging from the walls and ceilings.
The throne room was FS' first spot to visit. He made his way over to his throne, dusting it gently with his hand and then placing his large staff beside it, too lazy to continue holding it around.
Knight Cookie followed behind Fire Spirit, letting his horse trot around the castle alone, knowing it was faithful enough not to go outside or break anything important. Though, the castle was so bare, what was there to break?
FS showed Knight around his castle, motioning to all the empty rooms and broken windows caused by the dragons and how badly they shake the ground of the valley.
After a mere hour or two, Fire Spirit revealed to Knight his own room, which was decent, in his opinion. The room was nicely decorated with a large bed, fluffy rugs, and even had a window that wasn't broken. Overall it was the nicest place in the whole castle.
"You'll be staying with me from now on."
FS stated seriously, looking at Knight, guessing he was going to argue with his decision on where he would be sleeping.
However, the blonde cookie simply nodded in response, not understanding why Fire Spirit wanted to be so close to him. Though, he really didn't mind being around him now. He found the flame haired cookie to be nice, and good-hearted at times. Knight didn't understand why other cookies saw him differently, maybe it was because they truly never met FS before. Maybe they were just intimidated by the way he looks and acts around strangers.
Knight took off his helmet, letting his long-golden curls drape behind him, noticing the way Fire Spirit was admiring him, his red eyes gleaming and sparkling brightly.
Knight Cookie laughed and playfully punched FS' shoulder, causing him to stumble a bit before regaining his balance.
"HEY!"
Fire Spirit shouted, his voice cracking a bit.
Knight noticed this, chuckling heartily.
He then stopped abruptly, feeling the ground beneath him rumble and shake more than before.
FS noticed this as well, grabbing Knight's arm and pulling the blonde close, protecting his body from anything that might fall and crush him.
"W-what's going on, Fire Spirit..?"
Knight asked, not noticing his voice trembling in fear, holding onto the flame-haired cookie's cape tightly.
Fire Spirit's expression was cold, blank, maybe even angry as he spoke, his gaze set on something other than Knight.
"The Red Dragon has returned.."
