"Who's here?" Robert asked.
"Who else? Did you invite her?" Stevie questioned.
"No!" he exclaimed, "I absolutely did not."
"Funny, I don't believe you. She told me something about blue prints and shit, for whatever house she's designing. I could really care less, but I want her out of my house," she demanded.
"Alright. Give me a minute."
Stevie rolled her eyes and stood up from kneeling. She went back into the house and grabbed her glass of wine, she'd left on the counter.
"Blue prints?" he mumbled to himself.
—
"He said: he'll be in, in a second," Stevie smiled politely at Kristen. She then made her way to the couch and began chatting with her. Their conversation was brief and they didn't really say much to each other.
Eventually, Robert made his way into the house to seeing the women on the couch. They were some distance apart and Stevie just sipped her wine.
"Hi," Kristen said to Robert. She stood up and Stevie just watched.
"Hello," he said with some hesitation because, his wife was right there, but with some irritation because, Kristen was making his issue with his wife worse.
"Do you have the blue prints?" she asked.
"What blue prints?" he questioned– calling her out right there.
She stayed quiet knowing they were just an excuse.
"Had a feeling," he shook his head, biting the inside of his mouth and crossing his arms. "Did that car leave?" he asked Stevie.
She shook her head, "it's still there."
"The Porsche?" Kristen asked.
"Yeah," both Stevie and Robert said at the same time.
"Oh, that's my car," she responded kind of quickly.
"Oh?" Robert crossed his arms, "is it?" He knew that wasn't her car, so he was wondering where she got it from.
Stevie was confused because, she would have thought he'd have known her car. For him to not know was strange on her part.
"Yes, why would I lie?" she questioned.
"Oh, no reason," he shook his head, giving her an obvious expression, "why would you park in the driveway? This isn't your house."
"Yeah, I get that. But there was no parking when I got here and–"
"I don't want to hear it," he put his hand up.
Stevie was kind of surprised at the way he was talking to her and she wondered if their whole relationship, he'd been that way with her. As said before, Robert has always been sweet to Stevie even in the bad times.
There was a block of silence between the three in the room and then Jeffrey came down the stairs and that was just to give his mom a silent heads up that Lindsey was coming.
"Uh–" Robert hesitated at first because, he didn't know if he should introduce him or not.
"This is our oldest son– Jeffrey," Stevie introduced and her husband looked at her because, he was surprised she'd do that.
"Hi," Jeffrey smiled and shook her hand.
"Nice to meet you," she smiled.
He nodded and then sat down on the couch by his mom and she smiled handing him her glass of wine, offering him a drink and he took a sip and then gave it back.
