Until the very end ~ Jily

Chapter 2 ~ A swim and a sorting

Lily left the compartment in a hurry, trying to keep Severus in sight through the throng of much taller students. "Sev" She called. He didn't turn around. "SEV!"

Severus turned and looked at her. He stopped walking and allowed her to catch up. She smiled brightly at him. Lily was much happier after talking with her new friends.

"Let's not fight okay? I'm really exited and I don't want to ruin our very first day. Plus James said there was a brilliant feast waiting for us at the castle."

Severus frowned slightly. "Who's James?"

"He's the messy haired boy from earlier. But don't worry he's actually quite nice. So is Sirius. He's the other boy. I also met four other first years. Marlene, Alice, Frank and Remus. We all ended up sitting together and we're friends now. I can't wait for you to meet them properly. Maybe we can all sit together if we're in the same house. Everyone of them said they wanted to be in Gryffindor. They told me Slytherin's could be quite rude. They explained all about their discrimination to people like me but none of them care. And they were right too. I was in a compartment with Marlene and Alice and then these 7th year Slytherin's came in and kicked us out. But Marlene already knew James so we went to sit with them. Remus and Frank were there too. That's how we all met. James and Sirius are really not bad at all. I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding. Anyways I think you were wrong about Slytherin's but it's okay because they said that Gryffindor's are great. Maybe we'll all be in Gryffindor together. And you too. I really can't wait for you to meet them. And Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw don't sound too bad either." Lily said all this very quickly and by the time she was finished they were almost off the train.

Sev frowned at her. He didn't want to argue again but he was annoyed at her now. She just ditched him for some random blood traitors and thought it was okay to not even apologise for what she said? And she became friends with those idiots? Severus wouldn't be in Gryffindor. He knew this. Instead of arguing though he nodded and forced a smile.

"Sounds great" He lied. Usually Lily would notice his lies but she wasn't paying enough attention. They had gotten off the train and were making their way over to the giant man calling out for first years. Lily looked a little intimidated but he smiled at her so she smiled back.

"Hello" She said politely. "Ello there. M'names Hagrid. Pleased to meet ya." He said in a gruff voice but smiled down at her. "Hello I'm Lily" She replied.  He smiled again and once all the first years arrived he told them to follow him and led them towards the boats.

As they were nearing the docks Lily beamed and started jumping up and down. "Marlene! Alice! Remus! James! Sirius! Frank!" She called, waving them over.

Severus felt a strong pang of jealousy but ignored it and pushed down his anger.

The other first years came over and Lily smiled at them all. "This is my friend Severus. He's really sorry about earlier James and Sirius. I told him about Gryffindor's and Slytherin's and he agreed that he wants to be in Gryffindor too with all of us. Isn't that great? There's no need to argue now!" Lily exclaimed.

Severus forced a smile but felt like frowning. Lily may think otherwise but he would never go in a house full of mudbloods and bloodtraitors. What would his mother think? Sure his father was a muggle but his entire family had always been in Slytherin. No he wouldn't be in that house.

All Lilys friends introduced themselves and by then they had arrived at the little boats. "On'y four to a boat" Hagrid called out.

They all split up, Frank, Alice, Remus and Marlene in one boat, Lily, James, Sirius and Severus in another.

Severus was not one bit happy about this, although Lily seemed delighted.

James was happily chatting with Sirius and Lily about the castle and telling them stories his dad had told him of Peeves the poltergeist, much to Lilys amazement when Alice gasped from the boat next to them. They all stared up at the beautiful castle. Lily's eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head.
