Sitting so calmly upon the petals of a rose,
She waits for someone she thinks she knows.
Counting the minutes, hours and days
While roasting under the sun's hot rays.
She waits for them, tried and true,
She says out loud, "I'll wait for you"
For whom she waits she continues to wonder,
While her pain she continues to ponder.
She fights back the tears, tries to stay strong
Although she knows it will not be long.
Tears well up and she begins to cry,
"I hoped you'd come before I died."
She looks up hopefully, only to see,
The illusion of the garden fairy.
"What is wrong my child, why do you cry?
Are you waiting for your precious butterfly?"
She looks at him, with the slightest smile,
"Yes, and I have been waiting quite a while."
He turns to her and takes her hand,
He tries to help her understand.
"It is I, for whom you wait,
For I am here, so it must be fate."
And together they sit upon the petal of the rose,
As she takes her last breath under the moon's glow.
