What is a birthday?
Besides the day we're born,
With streamers hung from the ceiling
And gift wrap gracefully torn.
It is a day of celebration
For the birth of a newborn child.
We celebrate it every year
With family and friends, far and wide.
But what if one day we forget
About the first day of our life.
And suddenly such a magical day
Becomes the worst day of our life.
No more texts or phone calls,
Cause you withdrew yourself from the world.
Nobody reaching out to catch you,
When you know you're going to fall.
No life preserver floating for safety,
When youre drowning in your own hell,
And when you look around for someone, anyone,
There is nobody there to tell.
Dont forget about your birthday
Even without the balloons, ribbons, and bows
Because though you may think that nobody cares
Your emotions really do show.
So in case you've lost all hope,
And today is your special day.
I am reaching out to you right now,
And I have just a few things to say.
You are an amazing person,
Though you may not agree.
So lift your head, put on a smile,
Take a moment to breathe.
Please try to have a Happy Birthday,
If not for yourself, then please, do it for me.
