Tom's P.O.V
I woke up, yawning softly. I looked down, only to see my hand covered by Tord's.
I sighed and wiggled out of his grasp, setting his hand beside him gently.
I stood up and got dressed quickly. It was still dark out, barely 5 A.M..
The soldiers would be up any minute, ready to train.
Tord and I usually slept an hour later than what the soldiers did.
I bounded down the stairs, my steps light. I walked around, making sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do.
Time skip
It was late in the afternoon when Tord advised me to go to his office. He gave me orders to not come out for a while.
I did as he told me, but when I looked outside, I saw he had gathered a large crowd and he was in the middle, standing on a small stage with Edd on his knees in front of him.
I took in Edd's appearance. He wore a long black coat with a collar on it and a tattered green hoodie underneath that. His face was gruff and unshaven, making him appear older. His mocha eyes that once held the world, now bitter and dull from tough times.
I looked harder into the crowd and saw Matt. His jaw was now metal, and life seems to have also taken a toll on his innocence. He didn't smile, but instead his lips were parted and his eyes wide with fear.
Tord held a gun and he seemed to be giving a speech, or more like a lecture.
I turned around, pulling out a picture that I had kept in my vest pocket.
It was a picture of us before all this shit had happened.
I kept it in the pocket above my heart and occasionally looked at it, willing myself to not forget their faces. That's another reason why I locked the door during my showers, so I could look at them.
That's it.
I stormed out of office, an aura of anger and coldness surrounding me. Pat and Pau had been stationed outside of the office and now urged me to go back inside.
"Stand down, soldiers." I demanded, my voice cold.
They stopped dead in their tracks. I pushed forward, stopping by the target practice to grab a sniper rifle.
I made my way to the balcony, passing through the ranks of civilians and Red Army soldiers to get there.
The air was filthy and debris littered the ground. Occasionally, you could see splotches of sticky red liquid that stained the ground.
As I clambered through the soldiers, I came across a familiar face. It was Eduardo. His hair had been shaven in the back and his eyes were frightened. He seemed surprised to see me. I set a firm but gentle hand on his shoulder and squeezed it, trying to comfort him.
I climbed up the balcony and looked down, having to higher ground.
I raised the sniper, looking into the scope. I counted my heart beats, pulling the trigger on between them.
A loud sound rang out as the bullet whizzed down and hit Tord's gun, which he was raising to put to Edd's head. The gun flew out of his hand and clattered to the ground.
They both whipped their heads up, surprised that anyone would even dare to shoot at the Red Leader.
Their eyes widened in surprise even more when they saw me.
I raised the sniper once more and shot on the crowd, taking out Red Army soldiers.
Everything turned chaotic, rebels and soldiers scattering like roaches.
I hopped down from the balcony, heading towards Tord and Edd.
Tord looked at me in shock. Edd used that to his advantage and landed a hard punch on his jaw.
Tord turned around and started to run, hoping to escape.
I ran after him, hot on his trail. There was no way in Hell I would let him get away.
He grabbed something and stopped abruptly, turning around to face me.
I had to plant my feet in the ground to keep myself from colliding into him.
"Which do you chose, Thomas?" He spoke, an evil smile on his face.
My face went pale. In one hand he had a button and the other, a gun. The button would erase all my memories of them before this damn war.
I would lose Edd and Matt forever.
But, in the other hand, the gun. I would have to kill Edd to save my memories.
I really didn't want to chose either. I lunged forward, trying to get the button away from him.
He didn't drop the gun, but instead tightened his grip on the button to keep me from taking it.
I could feel the cold metal through my vest and shirt. I almost had the button, but he tightened his grip once more.
I guess he tightened his grip on both hands because I heard a loud bang and a cold sensation went from my stomach to my spine.
The cold was met with warmness.
My body suddenly became very heavy and my legs couldn't sustain my weight, and I crashed to the ground, hearing distant yelling and seeing Tord's pale, frightened face.
