𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄. To him, it was a lie that people told to themselves because it was what was expected of them. Love was a prison, at least that was what he believed. His mother had loved his father and that's why she stayed with him despite the fact that he was undeserving of her love. So instead, Tony choose to focus his energy and time on lust. That one, he knew very well. He loved countless different women, for about a night or however long, it took of him to get bored. He'd never pictured himself as a boyfriend and least of all, a husband. Not until Topanga Woods.
Their story was not a case of love at first sight. In fact, it was pretty much the opposite. Tony had never met anybody who hated him quite as much as Topanga Woods did, and that was saying a lot. The woman refused to give him the time of the day and believed that he was nothing but a privileged, son of a bitch, waste of space who would do a lot more good as a model - her words, not his. It wasn't simply that the fact that she refused to take any crap from him that intrigued Tony Stark, but the woman was brilliant and good. She made him want to be a better person. Eventually, their relationship evolved from rivals to partners [albeit partners who wanted to strangle each other] and eventually lovers. Soon, Tony Stark found himself completely and utterly in love with the woman who now knew him better than anybody he'd ever met. Despite, their own flaws and issues, they choose to embark on the scariest journey they'd ever take. Marriage.
Fast forward about twenty years and the two are parents to three beautiful children. They've built a life together and they couldn't be happier. Until Tony gets taken by a terrorist group that wants him to design a war machine. That was a hard time for the Stark family but the pulled through and eventually, Tony came back but he came back a changed man. One who chose to accept responsibility instead of shying away and Topanga couldn't be more pleased. She was proud of her husband for being the man she'd always known he could be.
The new dawn brought on a new person, The Iron Man. Despite all the good that he did, Topanga couldn't help but worry about the safety of the man beneath the suit and she found herself laying away too many nights, waiting for Tony to get back. Soon, she was doing everything alone. Taking the kids to school, cooking dinner and nearly every night, there was an empty seat at the table. She could see her children's estrangement with their father growing every day but she couldn't fix it. Not by herself. It only seemed like one chipped piece but soon a chip becomes a broken piece and a 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐏𝐈𝐄𝐂𝐄 can be all it takes for a family to fall apart.
