So I ask myself, do I let you go?
Or do I keep you in the frame of my mind? - Jorja Smith, On My Mind

She feels her eyes close after taking it all in. How the leafy, green trees line the outermost edges of the lake. Each tree different, each tree greener. The brightness of the sky, clear blue in the periphery, becoming whiter closer to the burning sun. Birds chirp and sing while the water laps up onto the bed of small grey rocks that surround it.

It all feels so smooth. She tips her head back to soak it all in. The grass tickling the fingers that she lets slip off of the picnic mat.

The mat that only he thought to bring in his backpack, along with the peaches he knows she loves so much.

She doesn't realise her eyes have closed again until she feels him tap her arm. He holds out one of the fruits, his eyelashes casting elegant shadows over his cheeks as he grins at her. She cant help but smile back as she holds his gaze and takes a bite.

The sweet, tangy juice swathes over her tongue, she licks her lips to stop it from escaping down her chin. She laughs as she watches him try to do the same but fail, the liquid erupting from his plump lips as he tries to suppress his laughter. She quickly catches a droplet with her finger, taking it and dropping it onto her own tongue, earning a gaze from him that sparks a residing hunger inside of her. Despite the heat, she can't help herself from moving closer to him.

Long humid moments later, their fingers are draped in the peachy juice, holding the stoney seed in the middle with their fingertips. She watches as he stands and extends his arm out to her, beckoning her to do the same. She wonders how with just a small, normal action, he manages to light a fire inside her that burns all around her skin, and into the deepest parts of her. The feeling of excitement when around him gives her life, gives her reasons to continue that she didn't even know existed.

They throw their stones into the lake, watching as they plop into the water, creating giant ripples that stretch out over the surface, disrupting the silk sheen of the setting sun on the water. Somehow, their hands find their way to each other in this perfect moment.

Suddenly he begins to run, tugging at her, their intertwined hands giving her no choice but to follow. Not that she would've wanted it any other way.

Hearts pounding, minds clear and chests heaving, their legs follow each other into the field, filled with gorgeous, tall, gleaming sunflowers. He picks her up so that she's as tall as them, she outstretches her arms to touch the soft yellow petals. The sunlight gives everything a stunning golden tint. Not a single feeling goes unnoticed because of it.

The ravishing halo of sun he sees around her short brown hair, the security of his hands holding her hips, they way his brilliant smile reaches his eyes when he puts her down, her gentle hands tugging at his shirt when she kisses him. A reminder of the soft fuzzy fruit they ate moments before.

Grasshoppers chirp, wind rustles through, sunlight beats down.

Beautiful places for beautiful people.
