Ch 10 - The Blade and It's Purpose

It took you a few seconds to realize the angel was none other then Irina. You bow in her direction as respect for being in the presence of a superior being.

"You don't have to bow when you see me (F/N). I'm a friend here to all of you. I'm not anything like royalty." Irina says to you.

"Sorry. Just a habit of seeing a being of such stature." You reply causing Irina to blush.

"My, my. Lord Michael's Ace blushing from a little comment like that." Rias says was giggling.

"Don't go there Rias. You know I only have eyes for Issei." Irina says with a pouting look on her face now.

"Well I think it's time to get down to business. Don't you agree Irina?" Rias asks.

Irina just nods and looks over at you.

"This is a holy blade. In fact it is one of the few pieces of Excalibur. Normally devils couldn't touch it because it would cause them pain. This one is different for some reason. One day it started glowing and your name appeared on the hilt. I guess you could say times are changing. I think this is a time that is proving angels and devils can get along and be friends. I want you to grab a hold of the hilt. I must warn you though. No devil has ever been to touch Excalibur. This is the first time one has a chance so be careful. We don't know what could happen." Irina says in a very serious tone.

You slowly grab for the handle of the blade. As soon as you fully grip the handle, an aura of red and pink blaze out from your body. Everything seemed to slow down around you for things moving around in the room except Rias, Irina and Gasper. You could hear them all gasp as they noticed what was going on. As soon as you release your hold on the blade everything seemed to go back to it's normal speed. Gasper laughs out loud.

"Now you know what it's like with my Balor View gear ability." Gasper says.

"Hmm I think the ability of the blade and Gasper's Balor View uses the same power. Irina if you would can (F/N) test his blade out against you and see if he can slow you down?" Rias says.

"Sure. Let's step outside and test it out. Or we could go to the other realm and test it out in combat." Irina says.

You nod your head and notice a gravitational pull towards the summoning circle that Irina is casting. Irina steps in and you follow knowing that you could travel with her. Rias held out her hand to stop you but Irina interjects.

"I think because the blade is a holy blade that it will allow him to teleport with me. Rias please summon a circle and both you and Gasper follow us to Heaven." Irina says.

You close your eyes and feel a shift in the air. When you open them, you are staring at Heaven itself and see angels watching. All of a sudden Rias and Gasper appear beside you.

"It seems you were right Irina. Shall we get it started then?" Rias says.

"Follow me to the coliseum and we can duel there." Irina says.

You all follow Irina to a coliseum and notice that it is packed with angels ready to watch the match. You just hoped that you wouldn't disappoint everyone. Even Lord Michael was in the seats to watch the duel. You are lead by Gasper to a waiting room for guys while Irina and Rias take off to the girls' waiting room. Both you and Irina are given half an hour to prepare yourselves. You start sweating from the anticipation of the duel. Now it was just waiting until you were called to enter the arena.
