"MARNIE!" Elenore screamed, flying through the front door and into the kitchen where I was preparing Nola's dinner.

"What?" I replied. I spun round to face her in the doorway, only to find it wasn't Elenore at all. Instead I was greeted by my own face, and Nola's, staring back at me from the front cover of a newspaper. "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" I shrieked, wrenching the paper from her grasp.

Accompanying the photo was the headline:

"THE MOTHER REVEALED: GRANDMOTHER TELLS OF DAUGHTER'S DIRTY SECRET WITH HARRY STYLES!"

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" My eyes stung with tears as I flipped the paper open to a double page spread with my own mother's face beaming up at me from the top left hand corner. "Unbelievable! I knew something wasn't right."

"This is not good, Marnie." Elenore bit her lip as she leaned against the door frame. "There were teenage girls going wild buying that paper today and I've already checked Twitter, it's not good either. You've sent the fandom spiralling out of control."

"Fuck the fandom!" I cried. "What about me? What about Nola? My own mother sold us out to the paper and has added some bullshit about how I never let her see her granddaughter!" I scanned the pages frantically with furious eyes. "'She has only allowed me to see the child once since it was born. I am absolutely devastated'. The bitch."

"I knew she was evil, but I never realised she was so two-faced." Elenore sighed, reading the article for herself. "I mean look here - 'Her father and I were nothing but supportive when Harry abandoned her upon discovering she was carrying his child, and yet this is how she chooses to repay us. We didn't raise her to be this way'."

"They barely raised me at all!" I scoffed, slamming my hand down on the paper as I fought back the hot, angry tears that burned my eyes. "I just cannot believe this has happened...again!"

"You and Nola are practically famous. Two newspaper articles in the space of a week, Marnie!" I wasn't sure if Elenore was trying to cheer me up or if she genuinely believed this was a good thing, so I burst into tears.

Moments later Nola threw her head back and began wailing in her high chair. Elenore looked frantically between us with wide eyes. "Oh God."

I withdrew my phone from my pocket and dialled my mother's mobile number, my father's and the home phone only to be directed straight to voice mail by them all. The paper would have paid them a small fortune for the photos and the information, they'd probably fucked off abroad. Not that they needed the money.

"Harry is going to be so pissed," I sobbed. "The tables have turned now." I cringed at how I'd flipped at Harry for his actions resulting in a newspaper headline. Now I was going to get a taste of my own medicine.

"Alice Owens has really done it this time." Elenore grumbled, rubbing my back soothingly. "I never did like that woman."

"Me either." I sniffed. It was a horrible thing to say about your own mother, but desperate times called for desperate measures and quite frankly I didn't give a shit right now. "What the hell do I do, Ele? Get an agent or something?"

"You're not that famous, Marn." She smirked, waving toys in Nola's face in an attempt to calm her down. "Do you think Harry knows yet? Where is he now anyway?"

"Amsterdam." I wiped my eyes with the sleeve of my sweatshirt. "And I have no idea. I haven't heard from him so I guess not."

"Right, you better phone him. I'll handle the baby." She pushed her sleeves up to her elbows and ushered me into my bedroom with a serious look etched on her face. The minute I was alone with the door closed, I started howling again.
