Notes:
I might start a new speedster, but a bit of a Percy Jackson spin-off because this one has come to a sort of end I guess. I don't know. Comment suggestions? Sorry it's been a million years since I've updated. Um, so yeah.
Also, I have a blog (dawndaggerblog.wordpress.com) and you can find out all about my crazy shanagins with publishing and writing real books and etc.
I lost stupid weasel ferret Nevin (because he cheated on me and its totally for the best), I self published a novella, and... yeah. Other updates? IDK!
How are you all?
I made my way from the oven to the counter, wiping my forehead. It was hot in our house, and I was shaking and sweating. I was trying to make lunch for Wally when he came home from work for a moment.
I edged myself and my big belly around the island in the kitchen and towards my slick cup of water. Big droplets of condensation were welling up and rolling down the sides, staining the dark wood of the island in a ringlet that looked a little like blood.
My stomach twitched and seized, and I gasped. I wasn't close to my due date. Maybe little Miss Speedster was just moving too much. I gulped down the glass of water and rubbed my tummy, bouncing a little on my heels.
"It's okay... it's okay baby girl... you're okay..."
We were so excited for our sweet little girl. So, so excited.
I fumbled with the glass and tried to refill it at the sink. I splashed cold water all over my shaking hand and the glass. Why was I shaking so badly? It didn't even hurt that bad.
"Iris, you're alright, I promise..." I whispered, bringing the cup up to my lips. I managed a small sip, but I accidentally splashed water all over my chest and face. I made a small, frustrated squealing.
Why wasn't I in control of my own body?
I began to waddle on shaky legs toward the living room, hoping if I sat down my head would stop spinning. "Wally, Wally..." I mumbled deliriously. I was burning hot. I wanted Wally. I needed Wally. He needed to take care of me, make me feel okay. What was wrong with me?
Wally, Wally, Wally...
The cup slipped out of my hand and hit the floor in slow motion. Clear glass shattered perfectly, like a raindrop hitting the pavement. The water splashed, making some sort of beautiful, abstract image, then followed the path of the glass, falling all over the floor and on my foot. Red welled up on my foot. My stomach twitched again.
I think I screamed.
* * *
When Wally sauntered into the house, tossing his suitecoat over his shoulder, he was excepting the wonderful smell of food, his darling love's sing-song chirp of a 'hello!', and the sight of his glowing, beautiful, pregnant wife.
Instead he was greeted by the smell of something burning. He rushed into the kitchen and flicked off the oven, then looked around for his darling. All that was there was a shattered glass of water lying on the floor, and little speckles of blood.
"(Y/N)?" He yelped, his heart thundering in his ears. "(Y/N)?" He ran up the stairs, wondering if one of the villains he no longer fought had come to hurt his everything. More blood speckled the ground until it was a thin trail.
"(Y/N)?" He cried, slamming open the bathroom door. She was lying in a pool of her own blood, crying, shaking. "(Y/N)!" He exclaimed, falling onto his knees next to her.
"Why... Wally why...?"
"Why what, why what?" He cried, tears filling his eyes.
"Wally, why is there so much blood...?"
He couldn't answer her, because he didn't know.
