I held my mom's hand. We were waiting at the hospital for some reason I didn't know of.

The doctor came out and said my mom's name.

"Stay here," she told me. "Be careful. Your dad is coming soon." She walked away and left to the hospital room.

A little while later, my dad arrived.

"Where's mom?" I asked.

"She's a little sick," my dad told me. "We have to go somewhere."

That day, we went to one of my dad's old friend's funeral.

10 years later, my mom still hasn't come home. My dad tells me that she got a job somewhere else, so I'm fine.

After school, I sat at my desk in my room. I opened a drawer that hasn't been opened in a couple of years. There was a note there. That's it. Just one note.

I read it:

"I'm sorry that I never came home again. I was very sick. I have gone to a better place now- a place like no other. This place is full of beauty and I am with my parents, friends, and family.

-Mom."

I went to sleep crying that night.

I woke up on a fluffy surface to a slight whisper.

"Jake. Jake?" I felt someone tugging at my shirt sleeve. I opened my eyes to see my mother.

We were reunited again. This time, forever.
