Angst
A story with an angsty mood centered on a character/characters who are brooding, sad, or in anguish.
Fluff
A story designed to be happy.
Hurt/comfort
A story in which a character is put through a traumatizing experience in order to be comforted.
Shipping
Focused on a relationship between two or more characters.
WAFF
WAFF is short for "Warm And Fuzzy Feelings". Fanfics that is bright, cheery, and (generally) peaceful, intended to make the readers feel better.
AU or alternate universe
Characters set in a universe other than their own.
Crossover
Works featuring characters, items from multiple fandoms. For example harry Potter X Idol producer
