*Third Person POV*

Maddie was standing on a little podium that was set up in her room. She was having a fitting for a dress. Because she was sixteen, she was to be crowned Queen in about a month and a half. As the dress designer worked on, well, the dress, Maddie looked down. She wasn't feeling it was, exactly...her. When she was little, all of her dresses for special occasions were designed by Evie. "I miss Evie's 4 Hearts," Maddie said. The dress designer looked up at her. "No offense."

"No, I agree," the dress designer said. "Evie always had great designs. It's such a shame that she disappeared with the other VKs."

"Yeah," Maddie replied. "Her daughter, Daisy, misses her a lot."

"How is my grandbaby doing?" Beast asked as he and Belle entered the room.

"Grandma! Grandpa!" Maddie exclaimed. She got down from the podium and ran to her grandparents to hug them. "When's father supposed to come?"

"Pretty soon," Beast replied.

"Do you like your new dress," Belle asked.

"Well, yeah. I mean, it's nice," Maddie said.

"But..." Belle helped her continue. Belle put her hand on her granddaughter's shoulder, moving the young girl's golden brown hair with purple tips. Belle knew her granddaughter like no one else did, so she could tell that something was bothering her.

"It just isn't me," Maddie said. "I know yellow is a family color, but I feel it doesn't fit who I am."

"We could make a few changes if you'd like," the dress designer said. "What were you thinking."

"Maybe, a little less yellow and layers. Could we maybe add some-"

"I'm here," Ben said as he entered the room. "Let's get this done quickly. I've got a lot of work to get done."

"Hello, father," Maddie said.

"Madison," Ben acknowledged. Beast and Belle watched awkwardly from the side.

"Anyway," the dress designer said, breaking the silence, "this is what we have so far-"

"I'd say it's exceptional," Ben said.

"Well, Maddie and I were discussing some changes we wanted to make to the dress."

"Oh really?" Ben said, looking to his daughter.

"Yeah," Maddie said. "I was thinking, maybe, we could ditch the yellow and maybe add a bit more green or purple-"

"Absolutely not," Ben exclaimed.

"But why?" Maddie asked.

"Your coronation dress needs to reflect the kingdom. You will be wearing yellow or blue like the rest of your family."

"You're forgetting someone," Maddie said. "Someone in the family who used to wear purple and green all the time, and you loved them for it."

"Who are you talking about?" Ben asked.

"Why are you acting like you don't know!?"

"Because I don't! If you're going to be Queen one day, you need to be able to explain things to your people!"

"I'm talking about mom!" Maddie yelled. The room fell silent. "You used to love her for who she was! How come whenever I want to do something to express myself, you always tell me no! Mom used to always tell me to be myself!"

"Listen, young lady, I don't know where this sudden attitude came from, but you better lose it before your coronation because from what I've seen, you're not ready to be Queen."

"That's because I'm not ready!" Maddie yelled. "I have no idea what I'm supposed to do to be Queen! It's not my fault mom disappeared before she could help me!"

"You are wearing that dress to your coronation, and you will be Queen of Auradon, and that is final!"

"When are you gonna look at me like your daughter and not just your heiress!" Maddie yelled. "The last time you've truly loved me was when I was five! You told me we were gonna get through this together! We've never done anything together since then!"

"Madison Olivia Kingston, I'm your father-"

"You may be my father," Maddie started, "but you are not my dad. Not the one I've needed." Maddie looked up at the clock. "I gotta go. School's starting soon." Maddie grabbed her clothes and headed out the door.

"That girl is gonna have a serious talking to," Ben mumbled. "I'm highly disappointed in her."

"Really?" Belle asked. "Cause I'm highly disappointed in you," she said before walking out. Beast followed closely behind her.
