What sucks about fanfiction, or online reading in general, is that there's a lot of room for mistakes. Nine times out of ten, if you click on a story, it's one of the first times that the author has ever written anything. Which is fine. Writers don't have to be this elite class of superhumans who can string together words powerful enough to elicit a physical response in you, although there are a few of those in every fandom. Most fanfic writers are teenagers. Teenagers are fucking dumbasses (and before you bitch at me, chill. I'm sixteen). In this guide, I'll give you advice on what to do and what not to do.

Don't feel bad if you make some of these mistakes. Learn from them, don't try to justify them, and move on. No writer is perfect.
