They all are launched about 50ft out of the water and land on the soft sand.

"We're alive!" Kaimana cheers. "We're alive!" She goes to hug Maui but stops when she sees his face. "Aah!" She shouts

Half of Maui's body is a shark. More specifically, he has a shark head.

"Listen...I appreciate what you guys did down there." Maui says

"Mm-hmm." Moana says as She punches Kaimana in the gut when she starts laughing.

"Took guts." He says kicking the sand, obviously showing he's embarrassed

Kaimana covers her mouth with a hand and kicks herself for laughing. She bites her tongue in hopes to stop herself.

"I'm sorry...I'm trying to be sincere for once, and it feels like you're distracted." Maui says, looking Kaimana dead in the eye, making the urge to laugh a whole lot worse

"No, no." Kaimana dismisss. "No way." She says biting her tongue even harder

"Really? Because you're looking at me like I have a..." He notices that he has a fin.

He feels his face.

"...shark head." He sighs

"What?" Kaimana plays the dumb card as it is Moana's turn to laugh. "Do you have a shark head? Cuz..." she trails off

Maui turns to Moana, "Look, the point is...for a little girl, child, thing whatever, who has no business being down there, you did me a solid. But you also almost died. And I couldn't even beat the dumb crab. So, chances of beating Te Kâ? Bupkis." Maui sits on the ground, frustrated. "We're never making it to Te Fiti. The mission is cursed."

"It's not cursed." Kaimana defends

Maui looks to Kaimana as if she is dumb and points to his head.

"Shark head."

"It is not cursed." Kaimana tells him as she gives him his hook.

As soon as he touches the hook he zaps to many different animals and then a bigger version of Heihei. He groans in frustration and finally zaps back to himself...only with a shark tail.

"Cursed." He clarifies

They all sit on the boat. Maui sings a small toon to himself.

"What can I say except, we're dead soon." Maui sings

Kaimana steers the ship as Moana tries to help Maui.

"Can you at least try?" Moana asks

He looks over to Moana, clearly agitated.

"Giant hawk." He orders as e touches the hook and turns into a pig, fish, and iguana and then back to himself. "Hey, it's okay, it's okay, we're dead soon." He sings again

Kaimana gets angry at him.

"All right. Break times over. Get up." She orders him sternly

"Why? Are you gonna give me a speech? Tell me I can beat Te Kâ cause I'm 'Maui'?" He asks sarcastically

Kaimana crosses her arms and sighs.

"How do you get your tattoos?" Moana asks curiously.

"Same way Kaimana got hers. They show up. When I earn them."

"How'd you earn that one? What's that for?" Moana asks as she taps a tattoo on his upper back of a woman discarding a baby into the ocean.

"That's man's discovery of Nunya." Maui says

"What's Nunya?" Moana asks

"Nunya business." Maui jokes in a serious tone.

Kaimana taps him with the oar. "Shell just keep asking." She reasons

"What's it for?" Moana asks

Kaimana taps him with the oar again and he grabs it and pushes it away.

"You need to stop doing that." He tells her

She gently taps his bun and he grabs the oar and stands up.

"Back off." Maui orders

"Just tell us what it is." Kaimana defends

"I said back off." Maui growls

She taps him with the oar again.

"Is it why your hooks not working?" Kaimana asks as Maui rips the oar from her grasp

Moana stares at them with fear. She knows both of them are powerful and this could easily end badly. Maui sits at the edge of the boat with his back to Kaimana.

She collects herself and looks away.

"If you don't wanna talk, don't talk." She says and sits on the opposite end.

Moana stands up and walks over to Maui.

"If you don't want to tell us, that's okay. You wanna throw me off the boat...throw me off. You wanna tell me I don't know what I'm doing...I know i don't. I have no idea why Kaimana chose me. You're right. But my island is dying so I am here. It's just us. And i want to help you... but we can't if you don't let us." Moana sighs

Maui finally speaks.

"I wasn't born a demigod. I had human parents. They, uh...took one look and decided...they did not want me. They threw me into the sea...like I was...nothing."

Kaimana's shoulders slump. She feels sympathetic for him and feels bad for pushing him like that.

"Somehow, I was found my the gods. They gave me the hook. They made me...Maui. And back to the humans I went. I gave them islands, fire, coconuts. Anything they could ever want."

"You took the heart for them." Moana says. "You did everything for them." She concludes. "So they'd love you."

"It was...never enough." Maui sighs

Kaimana finally speaks up and turns around.

"Maybe the gods found you for a reason." She says, trying to cheer him up. "Maybe my father brought you to them because he saw someone who was worthy of being saved. But the gods aren't the ones who make you Maui. You are." Kaimana smiles.

Maui looks back at her too and smiles. Moana looks at both of them and smiles.

Maui picks up his hook and gives them his signature smirk that makes Kaimana's hearts do flips.
