‟Hey.”

The familiar voice settles comfort upon its listener. The rustling of the nearby leaves surrounding the duo as background sound makes his shoulders slump in slight relaxation.

They have been sitting by the riverbank for a while now and as soon as they arrived, the blonde got rid of his blazer and rolled up his sleeves, allowing the fresh air to hit his forearms and gently make small hairs dance in rythm with the blowing wind.

A silence had settled between both. It didn't feel teasing but rather comfortable, as if it gave both some sense of a good fedling to wash over them and allowing them to drown in their own little fantasies.

The voice doesn't catch him by surprise. He turns to her with a hum, signaling her he is listening. The girl looks straight into his black orbs, hugging her knees closer to her chest as she slowly parts her lips to resume.

‟Why exactly... did we break up?”

He blinks, his eyes barely widening. He turns away and looks ahead of himself. His fingers tangle in the grass and gently tugs at it.

‟... I don't know.”

The girl looks at him silently, as if expecting something out of him. Her gaze becomes persistent, but in vain. Ojirou won't look her way. It's as if the river has caught his entire attention, being ten times more interesting than she is.

Hagakure's eyes fall upon his shaky hand, and she heaves a sigh.

She picks up a pebble and brings it up to her face, eyeing it carefully.

‟Yeah, me neither...”

She throws it into the river and watches it jump away into the water further away.

‟I guess we're better off staying friends, aren't we?” The girl chuckles weakly, fainting a weak smile. As he still doesn't look her way, he doesn't notice it.

That's right.

We're just... not meant for each other.

Ojirou breathes out a small ‟Yeah.”

He frowns, staring at the river ahead of him. And again, silence bestows upon both. Only this time, both sit at each other's side, but uncomfortably. Unable to bear the discomfort, Hagakure jumps to her feet.

‟I'm going home.” She announces. ‟The later I get home, the more trouble I'll get from my old ones.”

She brushes her clothes, straightening them briefly and glances down at Ojirou who doesn't even bother glancing her way. She finds herself staring at the side of his face, but fortunately manages to snap herself out of it.
