Being Chanpion of Unova is great! Beats being a gym leader and being confined to one city! Now, like most other champions, she has free reign to anywhere in Unova and to places like the battle tree! So that's precisely where she was.

Iris was battling alongside Grimsley in Cynthia's absence. That's when a blonde trainer who looked very unique made his way up. He looked very edgy, reminding her s little bit of Marshal's teenage photos. Grimsley obviously had the same thought because he held in a snicker. Imagining the fighting type elite four Marshal as a teenager going through an emo phase was impossible! Well, without those photos. Back to the story.

"My name is Gladion, me and Hau Have come to challenge you!"

Oh, Iris completely let the fact that these were double battles fly right over her head. The other little boy had green hair tied into a bun and he looked like the laid back kind. The immature little kid kind. The Ash Ketchum kind. Iris looked over at Grimsley, in all his kimono glory, and hen signalled for her to introduce them. With a fire in her heart and spark in her step she introduced themselves.

"And I'm Iris! This is Grimsley and we're part of the Unova League! We accept your challenge!"

Both boys wore a smile, but one was more carefree. We can only guess which of the two boys had the carefree smile. The other boy had a smirk. Blond bad boy Gladion. He looked as I found he just knew he was going to win. Just like that redheaded kid who challenged them earlier. They sent out their Pokemon so Iris and grimsley did the same.

Bonus:

After battle tree hours, Iris and grimsley retreated back to the house they were renting on the beachside. Iris flopped onto her back on the bed and started fangirling. Grimsley chuckled and shook his head. Sometimes Iris made him feel like he actually was her uncle.

"Did you see how awesome he was!? He was so cool! I have never seen a Pokémon like that! His battling style is so unique!"

"Someone has a crush~?"

Iris sat up and glared at his smriky face. That's snide face Shen has to get used to from day on at her knew job. She snatched a pillow from behind her and threw it at the dark type master, pouting and crossing her arms like a tsundere. Grimsley just started now laughing as he jumped on the bed and slammed the pillow down on her, causing Iris to fall back and start laughing. She then playfully shoved the older man's shoulders.

"Quiet you!"

Fluff moment:

Iris finally caught up to the hot edgy dreamboat she battled at the tree! Wow, that's a sentence she would never thought she would ever think. She wore an Alola white sundress and she did her hair up nice. Grimsley was supervising (stalking) from a distance because he doesn't trust Iris on her own. He's jus really being a protective uncle. Iris ran up to meet him.

"Hey! Gladion!"

Gladion turned and saw the Unova champion in a white sundress that brought out the tan of her skin and darkness of her hair. She had a wide smile and was running towards him with an Axew following behind her. Gladion felt a pang in his naturally tsundere heart and his face flush red. She was gorgeous. Then he averted his eyes and saw the elite four she battled with standing behind a tree and watching. He figured they had a father-daughter like relationship. His eyes were then glued on Iris again. She was already standing in front of him again.

"I didn't know you liked the beach! Hey, why don't we hang out a while?"

Her big brown beautiful eyes poured in his own. He felt his heart going Doki Doki and then urge to say "Baka" flow through his veins. A pretty girl never talked to him like this! Excluding Moon because she's dating Hau and Lillie because he's her brother. You sick incest shipping fangirls! THEYRE SIBLINGS!!!

"Uh, sure. Whatever."

Yes! Iris actually wasn't expecting him to accept but since he did she now had full consent to force him to have the most fun in the history of fun! She grabbed Gladion's wrist and started to pull him away, running down the beachline. This caught Gladion by surprise so he stumbled woth the first few steps. The Axew was running with hoist tiny feet as fast as it could to keep up. Gladion saw people staring and the humiliation got to him.

"Hey! Where are you taking me!?"

Iris didn't stop running, she didn't let go. She simply turned her head to look over her shoulder and said:

"To the best day ever!"

And it worked for him.

Heartbreaking moment:

This ship is too good and too wholesome for me to write an angst for it so have this image instead.

Overview:

At first, seeing the request made me doubt my ability in myself and doubt it could ever work. After seeing that Iris wasn't really specified for anime or game I merged the two of them and made it work. This way, Gladion and Iris could just be a wholesome couple with lots of fluffy moments and no sadness. Gladion felt with enough anyways. But I can see Iris just dragging Gladion everywhere by the wrist and forcing him to buy her things like a necklace or an ice cream. Yet at the same time I can see Gladion dragging her into double battles, training battles, and bragging that he's dating the Champion of Unova. After writing this, I can see these two just clicking. They're a good match.
