I heard someone say something, it kind of sounded like they were saying "Over here! Trees!" But I couldn't be sure. I started to move a little faster, hoping that the voice was a friendly one. Hopefully, they would be able to help me.
Then, right before I passed around the trees, there was another screech. I jumped a little and quickly turned my head around, frantically searching for the source of the noise. From right around the trees, I heard a voice say quietly, "What kind of animal is that? It certainly doesn't sound like anything I might know of..."
My breathing quickened and my heart started pounding. Slowly, I stepped around the trees.
