CHAPTER NINE:
Sunflower

❯❯❯❯❯

Angel sighed and kicked her shoes off her feet, bending down to pick up before putting it in the shoe rack by the door. She didn't see Grim's boots anywhere so she assumed that she wasn't home yet. She would always yell at her whenever she saw her pair of Doc Martens lying around elsewhere in the house and Grim didn't like her yelling at her. With her mind occupied, she went up to the attic and almost jumped when she saw Grim sitting on the stool by the counter, her fingers playing with the large skull ring that she had. She had her usual frown on her face and she didn't have to look to see Angel's surprised expression.

"Do you hate me?" She asked out of the blue.

Angel's eyes trailed down on her feet clad in boots. "For not leaving your shoes down, yes, I'm quite feeling such hatred for you."

"Are you jealous?"

Angel scoffed, plopping down on the unmade bed with her back on the mattress. "With Lauren? No."

"You hate it when I don't talk."

"I hate not being able to communicate with you, but here you are, sharing things to Lauren that I never knew."

Grim stood up as she put her ring back to her index finger, standing right in front of Angel. "You're jealous."

"And it's wrong, I know." Angel sighed before sitting up. "You're only doing this because Jude told you to and none of us can help it." Angel paused when Grim didn't say anything and she stood up to meet her blank eyes. "I don't think you should do it. Lauren's been hurt before and you know what Miguel did to him. If she figured out what we're in it for, she'd hate you—and I'm not saying this because I'm jealous. I'm saying this because you're going to get hurt. You both are."

Then, without warning, Grim had her lips pressed against Angel's, her hands reaching blindly for her shirt before throwing it over her head. She pushed Angel down on the bed, climbing over her in a fast motion, and their lips moving against each other as if there was something that they had to chase. Angel wanted to protest, wanted to hear Grim's reply, but she knew she wouldn't get what she wanted. Not when Grim's hunger for sex was this much. None of them could help it too. So, she let her take her clothes off, along with her concern flying out the window as soon as Grim's tongue touched her.

"Miguel's out of the list," Grim said after a long silence between them. Naked, she leaned against the headboard as she flicked her lighter, holding it up to the tip of the cigarette between her lips. "Lauren trusts me now. We're out of Jude's business soon."

Angel opened her eyes, her electric blue eyes looking up at Grim with emotions she couldn't control. She watched her hold in the smoke in her mouth for a while before blowing it out. The after sex look gave Grim a glow Angel couldn't explain, but it was beautiful. The tattoos on her body was faintly illuminated by the moon, and the smoke coming from her mouth made her look like a dragon. Grim was supposed to be the knight in shining armor, but Angel, the princess, was stuck with the dragon instead. She didn't mind anyway.

"You know what's going to happen after this, right?" Angel croaked out, pulling the covers up to her chest. "You shouldn't expect that Lauren's going to stay around, and we'll still be stuck with the Wolves."

"The Crows will be off our backs, and our business will rise," Grim said, her eyes unfocused, making it seem like it was a ghost talking instead of her consciousness. "Lauren's just a person, and that's an entire gang relying on us. Can't you see the ratio of the people who's going to be affected?"
