"What do you mean a punishment?" The girl was taken aback. Joslyn only look at her with composure, her hands clasped behind her back, her expression unreadable.
"You know, punishment, something applied to correct one's behaviour or action." She says smoothly and the girl frowned.
"What did I do to deserve a punishment already?"
"Last night, you called me, raising your voice while using profanity, and of course the mess you made that I had to clean up today."
"I apologized for the mess." Amberle fussed but Joslyn raised her index finger to her lips indicating that she should be quiet; she was quiet.
"Don't argue with me when I'm speaking because that too would acquire you serious chiding, am I being clear?"
"Yes," Amberle hissed and the woman glared at her. Was she always that hostile?
"Take a seat, Ms Wilson," She instructed gesturing at a stool by the counter. The girl slid herself unto one and quietly watched as the woman made her way out of the room. As soon as she was gone she sighed heavily, her shoulders slumped as all sorts of thoughts ran through her head, in particular, why did she even agree to that shit? Everything was weird at this point and Amberle was certain it was a fever dream or at least she wished that it was. It would make things easier for her if none of the things she experienced was real.
"Here," her voice crept through to the girl's thoughts and she was pulled out from her reverie. Joslyn was holding a little journal out toward the girl and hesitantly she reached out and took it.
"What is this for?" She questioned flipping through the empty pages.
"It's apart of your punishment, it's a simple one though" She responded and Amberle scowled.
"How is an empty book a part of my punishment?"
"It's what you're using that book to do that is the punishment."
"Okay,"
Joslyn handed her the same pen she had used to sign the contract earlier before instructing,
"You have trouble following simple instructions, you blatantly disregard anything that's ever told to you. Today's punishment is to see just how much you'd be committed to finishing a task and how much you pay attention. Write: I will never raise my voice nor will I use profanities at those undeserving of it. I will refrain from insolence, and tardiness, I will also consider keeping someone else's property clean."
"What?" The girl asked eyes wide at the instructions. Would it be too late if she told the woman she didn't get any of that?
"You heard me you're to write that down." She answered with a sly smirk and Amberle frowned. "Fine."
"But wait, there's more. All this comes with a catch, you have until tomorrow night to fill that journal with what I said and I'm not repeating any of it. When I come back I expect the entire book to be filled, did I make myself clear?"
"That's not fair, Joslyn,"
"Did I make myself clear Ms Wilson?" Joslyn's voice rose a little and the girl flinched. The woman never shouted until then and Amber didn't like it. She liked hearing the woman's soft tone.
"Yes, you've made yourself clear. " She mumbled with an obvious attitude, lowering her gaze to the floor.
"Yes, who?" The woman pushed and the girl cursed beneath her breath.
"Yes, miss,"
"Good girl. I expect you to follow the instructions, if not... well we will just have to see." Joslyn said to her, she slipped something out from her purse.
"Here's a cheque, cash it and take the money back to Stacy."
The woman hands the cheque over to the young woman and her eyes fumbled over the figure, it was nearly six grand written there.
"I-I can't take it alone, what if something happens to me when I do?"
"You'll be fine, I can have a friend who will do a favour for me, just take the money back as soon as you can."
"Chop, chop miss Wilson, time waits for no one," The woman glared at the journal and her statement was certainly pointing to the punishment.
"Yeah sure," the young girl said leaving the room to get a change of clothing.
