Yn's POV

As I was walking into work, Jay was walking out. "Hey" I say and stop him. "I heard what happened to Lonnie. Are you okay?" "I just got suspended" he said. "And I'm the number 1 suspect in this murder. I didn't do this Yn. You have to believe me." "I do" I say. "I'm behind you 100%. But right now, you need to get yourself a lawyer and don't say anything to anyone. Okay?" "Okay. I'll talk to you later." Then he got in his car and drove off.

Our current case was a weird one. We had found some body parts in the trunk of a stolen car. But my mind wasn't focused on that, but on Jay. I was worried about him. He could be taking the fall for someone else if there was evidence against him. "Hey, do you think Halstead did it or what" Adam asked. I looked up at him with a look of disbelief on my face. "Yn, come on, it's a question. You never know around here sometimes." "What's that supposed to mean" I ask. "Nothing" he replied and got back to work.

"Voight wants us to do a drive by" Al said and walked into the room. Everyone stood up except for me. "Yn" Adam said. "Are you coming?" "I've actually got something to do. I'll catch up with you guys later." Adam nodded and left with the rest of the unit.

I called Jay on my phone. It rang for a few seconds before he picked up. "How's it going" I ask him. "Not good. I was visiting Danny and Gail and when I was walking to my car, Phil came up to me and started accusing me of murdering Lonnie" Jay said. "Well keep your hopes up. I'm sure we'll find something that proves you didn't do it." "Thanks for believing in me Yn. I knew you were a great friend, but this just proves that you're more than that. You are officially the most amazing friend there ever was." "That means a lot Jay." Just then, my phone rang with an incoming call from Adam. "I've got to go Jay. I'll talk to you later." "Bye Yn." I hung up and changed lines so that I was talking to Adam.

"What's up" I say. "We've got an address for a possible lead on the case. I'll send it to you. Suit up and meet us there" Adam said. "Okay. Bye." I ended the call and Adam sent me an address. Then I suited up and headed over to the address. I got there just as the unit began to enter the building. We discovered the body of Tony Johnston who was the man driving the car with the body parts in the trunk. Unfortunately, his body was found in a barrel of hydrochloric acid.

Erin and Mia went to go off on another lead but Voight stopped them. "Antonio, you go with Sumner" he said. "What's wrong with me and Sumner" Erin asked. Voight didn't say anything but instead put his head down. "Say it." "I think it's better if partners are male-female" Voight said. Erin turned around and began to walk away. "Erin." "Kiss my ass" Erin said and continued walking. I laughed and turned around to face Adam. "Damn. I wish I could talk to Voight like that" I say. Adam chuckled. "Same here."

Later that day, we headed to a convention center in Rosemont where there was a connection to us finding Tony's body. "Rosemont PD, in position and ready to move in" someone said over the radio. "Rosemont PD, stand down, stand down. We will wait for the suspect to be identified. I want all these exits covered and set up for takeaways. Maintain eyes on the vehicle" Voight said into the radio. "Well, talk about the worst place in the world to take down a suspect, right" Adam said.

"Olinsky, can you I.D. Sims: Voight asked. "Yeah, on his way out, and he's got a brand-new shiny akm" Al said. "All right, nobody pops off until Sims gets the artillery into his vehicle, he's out of this parking lot. We'll just box him in. Patrol, position to the front" Voight spoke. "Suspect unarmed. Moving in" someone said into the radio. That's when a Rosemont police car rolled into the lot. "He's jumping the gun" I say and take the radio from Voight. "Rosemont PD, pull back! Pull back, Rosemont!" But they didn't listen and got out of the car. "Stop! Police" a Rosemont cop shouted. That's when Sims pulled out a gun and people started screaming.

I ducked behind a car just as Sims started shooting at the police. "Watch your aim" Voight shouted. I popped up and started shooting at Sims again, but he ducked behind his car. A Rosemont police officer ran to take cover, and Sims shot him a few times in the back. There was no way I was going to let him bleed out, so I ran from my hiding spot towards him. "Yn wait" Adam shouted. I slid into the snow next to the officer just as Sims ran off.

I felt for a pulse, and there was one, but it was faint. "We have an officer down. Roll an ambo to the Rosemont Gun Convention. Shots fired by the police. Plain clothes officers at the scene." I put pressure on the wounds, but there was not much that I could do. The ambo then came and took the cop away. Then we all headed back to the district. "The Rosemont police officer who was shot died on the way to the hospital. Wife, two kids. We lost that guy. So we go down whatever dark hole we have to to find Sims" Voight said.

"Hey" Adam said. "Want to go to Molly's and get drinks. I'm paying." I smiled and pulled on my coat. "Sure. Why not." We headed there in separate cars but met up inside. "What's your trick for firing your weapon" I ask. "I don't really think about it" Adam said. "Oh, so you just bury your feelings, like a typical guy." "No, it's not intentional or anything. I just, really, it doesn't bother me" Adam said. "You don't ever think about the suspect you killed" I ask. "Because I do all the time. Melvin Underwood."

"What" Adam asked. "He was the first criminal I killed. We were following a murder case and he was the man we were after. Killed 2 women. I had no choice but to fire my weapon or else he would have shot me" I say. "My uncle used to tell me this story about two monks who find a wayward maiden on the riverbank. And one monk says to the other monk, this is the younger monk. This is after they cross the river." I laughed as Adam couldn't find the right words. The point is don't carry your problems around with you" Adam said. After a few drinks, Adam followed me home to make sure I got home safely.

"Thanks for the beers" I say. "Yeah. I'm around anytime you need to talk. All right" Adam said. "Yeah. Okay." That's when I couldn't help myself. I leaned up and cupped his face before kissing him. Adam gripped my waist and kissed me back. And that's when I realized what I was doing and pulled away. "I'm so sorry" I say. Then I turned around and ran into my apartment.

When Adam left, I got into my car and drove to Jay's apartment. Thank god he was home. "Hey. I figured you might be drinking. And no one should be drinking alone." Jay let me inside and poured me a a drink. "There's something I have to tell you" I say. "I'm all ears" Jay said and took a sip of his drink. "I kissed Adam." Jay almost choked on his whiskey. "You did what? Yn, he's going to get married." "I know. But it was in the heat of the moment and he kissed back." "Alright. Can I run something by you" Jay asked. "Yeah. Of course." "So Phil Rodiger gives his statement, and he says that his son never came home that night. But I know he did."

The next morning, I ran into Adam as I entered the district. "Can I talk to you for a moment" I ask. He nodded and I pulled him aside. "I'm not a home wrecker" I say. "What, are you kidding me? You're like the most honest cop in this building" Adam said. "Then we can agree what happened never happened" I say. "Yn, look." "Please. Let's keep it as friends and partners." "Erased from my memory. All right?" I nodded and headed upstairs.

While I left early yesterday, Mia apparently stayed back and did some digging. She got some information on where Sims was hiding. He was at a trucking yard on the south side. The problem was, this place was huge and had many shipping containers. "Which compartment is it" I ask. "That's what we have to figure out. If Sims is in one of them, we'll catch his body heat on this" Antonio said and held up a device.

Voight, Erin, Adam and I headed inside while Al and Antonio stayed outside. "When's the next rig to Indianapolis" Voight asked the manager. "There's three of them. Dock 3, 12, and 16" he responded. "Antonio, scan docks 12 and 16. We got number 3" Voight said into his radio. We walked up to dock number 3 and took a look around. There was no sign of Sims. That's when we heard shooting and exited the dock just as Sims came out of dock 16. "Drop the gun" Adam shouted. Sims didn't listen and began shooting at us.

Then Adam fell to the ground and Sims made a run for it. "I've got Adam. You 2 go" I say to Erin and Voight. They nodded and ran after him. I dropped to the floor next to Adam. "I got hit" he said. "Alright. Let me see." I pulled off his bullet proof vest to see if he was okay. "The vest stopped it. You're okay. Take a deep breath."

Back at the district, I gave Adam some pain killers to lower his pain. "Thanks" he said after he downed them with water. At that moment, Jay walked upstairs. "It's good to have you back" I say and give him a hug. "It feels good to be back" he said.
