Yn's POV

Today was officially my last case in Intelligence before I had to take off. Because I was just about 9 months pregnant, the baby could be coming soon, and Adam wanted me to rest up at home for the last few weeks of the pregnancy. I didn't want to at first because I loved being at work, but I knew that Adam was right.

That morning, I woke up just before the alarm with Adam's chest pressed right up against my back. His hand was resting on top of my stomach, and I was laying on top of a body pillow. When laying on your side while pregnant, the weight of the baby puts pressure on the back. So, when you have a body pillow, your stomach is resting on something else, which keeps it from causing back pain.

As the alarm went off, Adam reached over to turn it off, and as he shifted away from me, the warmth from his body left mine. "Mm. Come back" I mutter sleepily. Adam laughed softly and returned to his previous position making more warmth spread through my body. "Did you sleep okay" Adam asked me. "Surprisingly, yes. The baby only kicked once" I say. "Now, as much as I would love to lay in bed with the beautiful woman carrying my baby, we have to get to work. It's your last case, remember" Adam said. "Right. Lets get ready then" I say.

.........................................................

"Our scene is clean. Detective Ray called it perfect. We've got nothing" Voight said. "That's 12 suspected bodies on Gael, including his own cousin" Kim said. "All right, take it from the top again" Voight said. "Our main target today is Gael Rodriguez. He's a middleman between cartels and gangs. He sells mass quantities of drugs to west side gang factions" Jay said. "As we know, Gael is smart. He doesn't leave a footprint because he doesn't touch the guns or the product. He keeps his hands clean, which means he's hard as hell to pin, but last night I think we got a way in. TJ Trevino is set for a buy" Kevin said.

"TJ confirmed he'd sell four kilos as a test run" Vanessa said. "The buy is set today at 3:00 p.m." Hailey said. "So money and drugs exchange hands, we grab TJ, flip him for Gael. Jay, I want you and Hailey taking the lead on this one. Just remember, I mean, we're running this guy for drugs, but our objective is to end the violence. Stay light" Voight said. "Copy that" Kevin said. The deal never happened, meaning we had no way to go in undercover, and because of that, Voight called for a Title Three; a full scale wire. For my last case in Intelligence for a while, this was a big one.

"All right, we don't have nearly enough for a warrant on Gael. The judge agreed that we do have enough for a Title Three on TJ's burner, so that's where this wire's going to start. We'll listen to every call he makes, every word he says. Then we build. No organization can move this much product without a trace to their boss. There's 1,000 paths up and down. TJ will lead us to them. Everything might be something: who TJ talks to, who he calls, who calls him, the women he's screwing, his baby mamas, the side chick he thinks no one knows about. Every person he meets with. Every potential buyer he shakes hands with. They all become part of the wire. The bars he's drinking at. Corners where he smokes. All the cars he's ever driven to get there. The place he buys his cigarettes, his gas, his coffee. We set up audio and video everywhere this guy goes, and every time TJ meets, looks, thinks about his boss Gael. We do this right, we build from TJ right on up to Gael, hook him to his entire organization, all before he ever knows we were there" Voight said.

The wire went deep, and we had more than one white board filled up with information on Gael. "So we've got Gael's cars and his address, but so far he's not doing anything incriminating on the wire. The more intel we gather, it's pretty clear that he keeps himself clean. He trusts his men. He goes to them directly" Jay said. "It's TJ who meets with all the buyers. He schmoozes them up and oversees all the drug deals" Kim said. "Yeah, it seems like the only time he gets directly involved is when a buyer needs a big re-up" Jay said. "So TJ needs Gael's order to approve it" Voight asked. "Exactly" Jay said. "Then you're looking at tickling the wire, force Gael to approve something" Voight asked. "Yeah, that's what we're hoping" I say. "All right, so who's our best bet to do it" Voight asked.

"I think we like Tyrell Young. He's a buyer for TJ and they've been meeting pretty often" Kevin said. "Tyrell runs a dope stretch in the Wild Hundreds" Adam added. "Okay, so we flood the area with buys, dry it out, and force this Tyrell to make a massive reorder of dope" Voight said. "And then we'll wait for TJ to get Gael's approval" Jay said. "I like it. Listen, Hailey, I want you to oversee all the call logs on this wire. We're going to be assigned ASA Becerra on this one" Voight  said. "Oh, the hard ass that worked the Darius Walker case" Hailey asked. "Yeah, so it has to be by the book. Everything has to be documented, pertinent and non-pertinent. We need every minute of every call and video logged on this wire" Voight said.

In order to get TJ to contact Gael, we sent dozens of cops undercover to go buy drugs so that TJ would eventually run out. "Look at you. You look lovely" I say to Adam as he handed me the drugs he had bought from a dealer. "I try. You look even better though" Adam said. "Don't flatter me" I say. The plan worked perfectly, and Tyrell Young called TJ asking for more dope. Gael said okay, and that TJ should take Reyes with for the deal. The problem was, we didn't have anyone named Reyes anywhere in our wire tap.

The bust wasn't as good as we'd hoped because TJ didn't show up, so the team decided to let Tyrell walk and just get Reyes. "Luis gave us everything. He installs all the traps for Gael's organization and he runs drugs, but he gets his orders from TJ. He drops the cash at a stash house that Gael never actually goes to. Now, none of this is useful to us, but he usually sees Gael and TJ after a big re-up, usually the next day" Jay said. "He said they meet outside the bar. Gael likes to confirm that his cash was dropped" Adam said. "As in verbal confirmation" Voight asked. "Yeah" I say. "All right, so get Luis to drop the cash now, then we'll move on in the morning" Voight said.

The next morning, I had eyes on the trackers we had placed while the team was out watching Reyes attempt to meet with TJ and Gael. "Can we get another check on TJ's vehicle" Voight asked through the radio. "It hasn't moved, Sarge. It's still anchored three blocks away from you" I say. Just then, all of the other trackers disappeared from the screen. "Sarge, we've got a problem. The cells just went down" I say. "What do you mean" Voight asked me. "They're off. Every single one of them just turned off and we lost the feed on all the trackers except for TJ's. The whole wire's down" I say. "All right, somebody get me eyes on TJ's car now" Voight said.

TJ ended up being dead, which means someone knew about the trackers and what we were doing. "What's the verdict" I ask as Voight and Hailey walked into the office after speaking to ASA Becerra. "We don't have him, so loop in Homicide on TJ's death. Maybe there's a slip up, some way to pin it to Gael" Voight said. "And the wire" Jay asked. "I don't know how he made us. He probably had checks and balances in the cash we didn't know about" Hailey said. "Okay, let's start breaking down the room. Get everything we've got over to narcotics. It might be a use next time someone takes a run at him" Voight said.

That afternoon, Adam tied a blindfold around my eyes as I walked up the stairs of Intelligence. "Adam, putting a blindfold on a pregnant woman is not a good idea" I say. "Don't worry. I've got you" Adam said and led me up the stairs. "What is the point of this" I ask. "Can you wait a second" Adam asked me. "Not really" I say. "You are the most impatient woman I've ever met" Adam said as we finally reached a flat platform, meaning we were standing at the foot of the office. "All right, you can take off your blindfold now."

When I took the blindfold off, I saw that the whole team was standing under a banner that said, "we'll miss you." "You guys, what is this" I ask. "Your farewell party" Kim said. "You guys didn't have to do this" I say. "Of course we did. The team isn't going to be the same without you" Jay said. "You guys are amazing. Thank you" I say. "Does this mean we can have the cake now" Kevin asked. "Yeah. Go ahead" Adam said. "Yes. I call dibs on the corner" Kevin said and rushed towards the break room. "Wait! I want the piece with the most frosting" Vanessa said and chased after him.

I turned towards Adam and hugged him as best as I could without my stomach getting in the way. "Thank you for doing this. It means a lot" I say. "I only suggested it. The team put it all together" Adam said. "All right, well, I'm going to get some cake. We'll talk in a bit" I say and head into the break room. Later that night, once the party had died down, I was saying my goodbyes to the team. "I'm still going to visit you on the weekends" Jay said. "Are we still on for our Saturday movie nights" I ask. "Of course. It's my week to pick the movie" Jay said. I took a deep breath and admired the district one more time before gathering up my stuff and exiting the office.
