"Let's go."

She pulls me.
I feel lighter.

We pass by the boxes
                       plastic
                        robots
                        cheap happiness.

down
down
down.

I stare at her back.

Her back is long and frail.

"Mommy-"

"Let's go."

"Mommy-"

She turns.
Her eyes tired.
Her smile gone.

"We don't have anything, baby."

She cries.
I don't know what's going on.

I never heard
the ka-ching
ever again.

We went home crying.
