Neerja was just a child when she saw the girls her age tying rakhi on the wrists of their brothers. Since she had no father nor brother she felt really alone knowing fully well that she had nobody to tie rakhi on his wrists.
As she was crying silently sitting at a corner of her house her mother Shaily came to her. "My daughter Neerja I know why you are so sad. I have brought a brother for you. She handed her an idol of Lord Krishna. He is your brother. Tie him Rakhi and he will always protect you." Listening to this Neerja was really happy. Finally she found a brother in Lord Krishna.
Since then every Raksha Bandhan Neerja would get up early and decorate herself and her brother Kanan. Kanan would be happy to get ready with new clothes.

She would then tie Rakhi on her brother's wrist and Tell him that she will collect her gift later. Like this many years passed. Neerja had now grown up from a small child to girl of marriageable age. Her mother was not very rich but she was not too poor. She finally fixed her Marrige with a boy name Aditya. Aditya was a nice guy but his only fault was betting.
He did it too quietly so that no one knew about this bad habit of his. To be honest Aditya was very confident because he would never loose in any kind of bet. It was his record. In his obsession towards betting one time he lost ten lakh Rs. It was the first time he had lost and he had no idea how to recover such a huge amount.
Then he remembered Neerja. Soon enough the condition for marriage was additional 10 lakh Rs. Apart from the expenses of marriage. Neerja's mother Shaily had done all she could to assure her Marrige get completed. But Alas there was no other option now. She had to sell her house to fulfill the sum of dowry.
Neerja who was seeing the state of her mother decided to send away the baraat back. When all this happened she was sitting next to her mother. Both of them too sad and depressed as the marrige of Neerja had broken.
Thats when a man in his early 20's came to their house. With him another male had come.
The first man greeted Neerja," hello didi how are you?"
Neerja looked up at the man. He was dark skinned man with very handsome face and physique.The man continued- "My father was a friend of your father. I had heard so much from him about my Neerja didi. When my friend here was ready for marriage I thought who could be better for my friend than my sister but as I came here so that you two can meet I got to know about the failed marriage ceremony. But thank God didi you were saved. Aditya, the boy you were marrying had stolen 10 lakh Rs from office for batting. My friend here is the boss of office in which Aditya was employed and he had complained him to police who has arrested him for forgery. If you got married to him my sister's life would have been ruined."
The man's friend and Neerja both liked each other in first glance and decided to get married the same day her Marrige was fixed and they both were very happy with this arrangement.
The man himself took all the responsibilities of marriage and completed all the rituals of the brother. Neerja was happily married and he thanked her brother who came as a saviour for her.
After marrige she asked her husband so many times about his friend who helped in bringing them together but to both their amazement they had no idea who the dark skinned man was for they both didn't knew anything about him.
Since then Neerja believed that Lord Krishna himself came as her brother to save her from marrige that could ruin her life and helped her reach her true life partner.
