This is for a bit of an old friend of mine whom, due to distance, we are unable to see each other, though this is true, theyre still a really good friend of mine. They put in a little bit of extra work to hold up their side of the friendship, while I hold up mine. This is the way friendship works, two people sharing the weight, not one taking it all. I know this aint going to be much of a poem, but heres to long distance friendships, You know who you are, so thank you, and here it is.
Once I saw the light in your eyes
Now I have to picture your face
Once I saw your reaction
Now I have to guess
Once I was trying to figure you out
Now I have you down to a pin point
Time has passed
Yes indeed
Has that changed anything?
Yes of course
Do I wish to see you every day
Come on thats a gimme
Distance has showed us much
It shows us how valuable time is
It shows us the importance of friendship
Does it come with a price?
You bet
You and I know the debt
Id say its been worth it
Someday soon, we know the date
Itll be time to look eye to eye
Find that spark
Find the light that lit the fire
The fire to keep on going
Sure distance has kept us apart
But we know the meaning of friendship
We both put time in
We both put effort in
We both work for it
Work for long distance friendships
