He had removed his shirt in the process of looking for Avery. He did not want anyone finding out where he was, so he left bits of clothing in all the parts of the forest that he had been in. When he entered the forest, he threw his shirt, when he checked her favourite spot, he left the shoes, leaving him with only his mask and a pair of shorts.

He arrived at her house standing there, hoping to wait patiently for a sign but there was none. He couldn't get himself to knock on the door.

"Come on, just do it." He said to himself silently for a couple of minutes before he lightly grazed his knuckles on the door, afraid she would only dismiss him without listening to him.

Knocking lightly, he said, "Avery, it's me, Darrius! Please open up."

"Go away, Darrius. I don't want to talk to you right now. Maybe tomorrow or later," she said, looking down at the cold floor.

"You should know, the lady who pinned herself onto me, doesn't mean anything to me." When he noticed her silence, he decided to take it as a chance to continue. "You know, I met you, and I was stunned by your beauty. As I continued to discover more about you these past few days, I couldn't help but become more intrigued by your personality. You are truly amazing, Avery and I are glad to have met you."

He suddenly heard her unlock the door; he thought she had finally given him a chance. She stepped forward and slapped him across the face. "I do not like these flutters that I feel inside my chest. I hardly know you, but I feel a certain type of way when I'm around you, so the slap was for the things you made me feel, that I can not seem to comprehend."

He entered the house and closed the door, trapping her with his hands on both sides as she leaned against the door.

"I feel the same way, my love. Why don't we discover these feelings together while we get to know each other in the process? Let's give us a try."
He searched her eyes, hoping he could find an answer to his question, but all was in vain.

"I'll give you a chance Darrius, but you are certainly going to work for it. You are going to show me exactly how much I mean to you."

He was ready, for sure he would not disappoint her again. He replied, with a smirk, "I accept the challenge, my love. I'm going to treat you as though you were my queen."

She smiled, "who was she?"

"She is just a girl who is completely obsessed with the thro-...... I mean throat."

"Throat?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"She is obsessed with her throat. Most of the times she likes to shove her-..."

"Okay." Avery said, " I don't like where this conversation is going."

He chuckled at her childishness, tapping her nose lightly. "Did I ever tell you, you're beautiful?"

She laughed before shaking her head. "Well, you certainly are." He whispered, looking straight into her eyes.

Avery couldn't help but let her mind wander about something that had to do with the lady, so he asked Daniel, " I don't understand how she got the same dress and mask as me. I thought the designs were quite rather unique on each item; it would have been rare to find a duplicate of both."

"She is just crazy. Always wreaking havoc in that castle, ruining the lives of everyone in it, ruining everyone's lives in general. She is awful." He said shrugging, his voice devoid of any emotions, "although I understand what you are trying to say. However, you should know I would have never approached her if I knew she wasn't you. You're the only girl that I can stand. The rest seem fake to me."

She giggled, lightly shoving him away, only for him to come back. She had nothing to say, so she decided to change the subject, "Okay, what should we do now?"

"I don't know about you but I quite like this position I am currently in." He said, showing off one of his signature smiles.

"Focus, come on Darrius." She said as she lightly poked his chest, however, what she didn't expect was to hit a bare chest.

"Oh my God, You are half-naked," she said, willing herself not to look down. However, her self control slipped as her eyes betrayed her, slowly moving towards the direction of his chest, then onto his abdomen getting a perfect view of his defined body.

After that, she took a sneak peek at his arms. His muscles were well defined, and his skin was beautiful. She couldn't help but stare at him in admiration.

When she looked back into his eyes, he had a smug look on his face. A little blush tinted her cheeks, which caused her to look away, but Daniel was having none of it. He gently cupped her face and placed short, sweet kisses on her red cheeks.

"I would love to continue this; however, I believe I was promised a dance."

"Oh no, I never promised anything like that." She said.

"Okay maybe you didn't, but I would like to have one with you."

"Oh, Darrius, we have no music." She said.

He shrugged, " it's alright you can make up a song in your head. Oh!" He went into his pocket and grabbed his mask, placing it on his face. "We need to use the masks as well, makes it seem more real to me."

She got out of his hold, to get her mask, but Daniel stopped her, "where are you going?"

"I'm going upstairs to get my mask, I'll be back," she replied, giving him a peck on his cheeks.

He watched her as she went upstairs until she reached the room. He couldn't remember a day when he was this content. She made him feel comfortable and happy, just by being in his presence. He only hoped he wouldn't mess it up.

He still had not told her the truth about him being the Prince. He needed to break the news to her; otherwise, she would go awol, and he would go back to square one, which did not sit well with him.

He was so deep in thoughts that he didn't realise that she had come down the stairs, with her mask on and the dress that he had brought her.

She sneaked her arms around his waist pulling him out of his reverie.

"May I have this dance, Darrius?" She tiptoed to whisper in his ear. He closed his eyes, turning around to face her. He took a deep breath, taking in her appearance and also sniffing her sweet scent. He let out a shaky sigh, whispering in her ears, "You have absolutely no idea, how gorgeous you look right now."

He took her hand, and together they swayed the whole night long until the wee hours of the morning.
