Chapter 3 "Nice to Meet You"

Evan Williams had experience living in a happy family before. Kevin and James were the perfect father and mother for him. Then Emily came into the world, it was the happiest day in his life. At least they were happy once.

The young man didn't remember when did Kevin started to change into this scary monster. Was it the day his father came home after being laid-off from his bankrupt company? Or was it the day he found out that drinking and gambling made him forget his stress from unfruitful searches for jobs?

Even with all of that, James stayed. For Evan and Emily. Evan remembers when Kevin came home late at night, the door slammed that the floor shook, his light sleeper self was up immediately to see what's going on. James somehow left the room's door ajar that night, between those gap Evan saw Kevin pull his mother's dark brown hair, yelling about something.

James tried to push his husband away when his green emerald eyes caught Evan's. The omega just smiled, he signed, "I'm okay, go back to sleep."

Evan complied, then the same thing happened again and again. Until one day, he regretted for going back to sleep, he regretted being a coward and not standing up to Kevin. If he could be born a bit manlier and stronger, he could've protected his mother that day.

It has been a week since he and Emily got evicted from their old house. Ricky, the manager of the bar "The Witches" is nice enough to let them stay on the second floor of the bar. Ricky even brought him to the free clinic to get himself a new pair of hearing aids a few days ago for one hundred percent free.

Evan had to wear the aids at least eight hours a day to get used to them. Though his job now doesn't really require any hearing ability because he is in the kitchen all the time, any food orders just appear digitally on the screen above the stove.

Ricky and the other deaf guy, Cole, who is the guard outside, has been helping him a lot through this week. It's surprising that everyone just tolerated his condition just like that, the world still has hope.

Now he can just work and save some money to pay another half of his debt, also some money to send Emily back to school starting next month.

It was four thirty in the afternoon, Evan was the only staff that live in the bar, so he always start early than any other staffs. Emily was watching some cartoons on the old television while Evan was getting ready for work. The boy felt bad for leaving his sister all night, but Emily is very understanding and independent for her age.

Evan ruffled Emily's wavy brunette and leave the small apartment. Climbing down the stairs he look around the first floor and he saw a yellow sticky note on the bar where Ricky spend his time on his laptop before the bar opens.

Ricky left him a note saying he is leaving to run some errands and will be back soon. Guess Evan will have to do the cleaning alone until the other staffs start coming in. Evan may have hearing loss, but his brain is working very well, in just five days, he already remembered everything for his work, from the cleaning to kitchen work, he received a lot of praises from Ricky and the other staffs.

Evan grabbed the broom and walked out the staff only room to start sweeping. He put his hearing aid on and a loud stinging noise sent into his ears, he gasped as it hurts a lot, he quickly turned it back off. Ricky insisted him wearing them everyday so he can get used to it, but he is not here right now, so he will turn them on later. The boy shrugged and continued sweeping.

He didn't know how long he had spent time from sweeping, he didn't realize a huge shadow approaching from behind and a huge hand grasped on his thin shoulder, he was sure a weird noise came out from his throat as he turned around to have his head bump into a hard chest, cladded in black expensive suits.
