The Internet,

Wattpad.

Dear reader,

This story was loosely inspired by Nodame Cantabile (It's a nice anime! You should watch it!), and the idea and plot lived in my notebook for two or so years before I started working on it. I lost my drafts, progress, and outlines many times over the course of the years. This book has changed, shifted and diverged so much from the original idea. For instance, Al was supposed to be deaf, not blind. Marie and Clarie were one character. Kenneth was supposed to be a foil character that didn't make many appearances etc -- but I love it all the same. I couldn't be happier that my story turned out this way!

Why did I write Symphony? Well, isn't it interesting that many of the people we consider musical prodigies now either had disabilities or unconventional learning styles? Alejandro has always seemed to me as my take on prodigies like that. There's also something challenging about stepping into someone's shoes. Writing without 'sight' was hard. I won't lie. When you're learning how to frame descriptions you're given the advice to incorporate all five senses, and I had to minus the most used one to get in Al's head.

I've been working on this story for so long that I'm sure I won't be able to comprehend not working on it. I'm sure it'll take a while for me to truly let go if it. It's my baby. My writing style has changed through the years, and it's reflective in this book. I'd like to look back at this as a little progress chart, observing how my style changed and evolved in this one story.

I'm also very grateful to all the readers that have been here since the prologue. It's been a long ride, hasn't it?

Thank you all for supporting me and this story.

Yours forever grateful,

Saintc.
