Julie stepped aside and allowed Loki and I to enter. I sighed and immediately went to the couch where I collapsed realizing that Julie hadn't followed nor had Loki.
Julie stood still blocking Loki's path scowling, "What are you doing here, Loki? She's my best friend and I was set to protect her!"
"Protect her? From what? Little ol' me?" Loki asked blinking his eyelashes playing innocent, "And she is my friend too! You are not supposed to be around Jewelry. Last I heard all Valkyrie were wiped out!" He said as he moved to the left of the door and appeared behind her. "Poof!" He cooed smirking.
Julie whirled around, eyes narrowed, "Alright, Gideon Gleeful, if you hurt her... Even in the slightest your dead meat." She threatened and marched into where I was, the living room. When she entered the living room I didn't have a clue of what had just transpired. She grinned and hugged me. I hugged back.
"Hey, Jules! So... Uh can you help me figure out what's happening...?" I asked shyly.
"So you didn't dye it?" She asked, "Huh..." She ran a hand through my hair inspecting it.
"No, I didn't..." I mumbled. I let out a gentle sigh and then, the question I knew she was going to ask happened
"...How'd the doctor's appointment go?" She asked.
Loki arrived being silent, his face showing that he was wondering about the appointment. "I don't believe you ever told me about an appointment." Loki crossed his arms feeling left out. "Was it for the hair?" He questioned.
I squirmed uncomfortably, "One, I don't have to tell you everything you aren't my mother! Two, the hair happened after and three it... it was just a routine... Checkup..." I was bad lier and Julie always knew when something was up.
"Rose. What is going on?" She asked, narrowing her eyes in suspicion.
Loki appeared behind the couch. I hadn't seen him move. That is so weird... "I am the master of lies." He proclaimed. I was starting to think he wasn't just named Loki for the fun of it. He scowled sternly as he said, "Do not lie to my face, Rose." He said plopping onto the couch. "Let's play the game of: are you sure you want to lie to the people who want to help?"
"...I just don't want you to worry..." I mumbled, giving him an odd look when he said a game. He certainly was a strange boy.
"Too late, Ro. I am worried now." Jules said fiercely and glowered at Loki.
I raised my eyebrow at this attitude and changed the subject, or tried to, "...What's with the angry looks?" I asked Julie.
"Uh-uh. Not happening. What's wrong?" Julie crossed her arms not fooled one bit.
"...I just don't want you to worry..." I mumbled.
"First of all, just tell us. We care and are both sick of these games!" Loki scolded, being a tad dramatic. I noticed his sly attempt of snapping his fingers together secretly tying Julie's shoes together with magic. Okay, that was weird. He had magic? But this wasn't the time to bring it up. His voice turned into a friendly threat... If that's what you could call it. "You can tell us now, or we could go and find out ourselves I have the power."
"Fine." I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself to tell them my life-altering secret, "I... I am dying. They don't know why."
(LOKI'S P.O.V.)
I froze like a deer in headlights. I couldn't speak but I didn't have to as the mysterious Valkyrie spoke for both of us, "...Rose, hun..." She slowly scooped the mortal girl into a hug and she was tense with fear and grief. I wanted to do the same but I didn't think my presence in the hug would be desired. To my surprise, however, Julie looked up at me glowering, "Get your ass in here and hug her too, you prat!"
Awkwardly, not used to physical contact much of any kind I slowly hugged Rose and Julie. I lay my chin gently on her head and hummed a gentle, hopefully soothing melody. I wanted to ask about it. I wanted to figure out why this was happening. I was no human doctor. Maybe I could figure it out. But, I had to do my investigation secretly... That or reveal my identity. I didn't know what to do.
