twelve ; dinner part 2. "it must have been the cat"

"Time for dinner." We hear my mom yell from the kitchen. We left the game how it was just in case we got the chance to finish. No one won since we didn't get to finish but I was defiantly going to. I'm competitive when it comes to monopoly.

"I'm not sitting next to Jae since she stole the boardwalk from me." Adam says sticking his tongue out at me. I laugh and roll my eyes.

"You're just jealous that I'm better than you at monopoly." I say sticking my tongue out at him.

"I'm kidding I want to sit next to you."He says smiling at me as we sit down next to each other. My mom basically made a little bit of everything. The dinner was pretty awkward on Josh and I's part. Jordan and my mom were talking, they were getting a long really well. Dad and Adam were talking all about hockey. I could tell he loved talking about hockey. His eyes lit up as he spoke every word to my dad, it was cute.

"So how did you and Jae meet?" I hear my dad ask Adam. My eyes go wide, I was nervous for some reason.

"My friend Connie was the person who showed her around school on Monday. She introduced us and now we play hockey together." He says smiling. My dad even smiled at him which was a surprise, I didn't think that he was going to be okay with all of this happening so fast.

"Are you guys official yet or working up to it?" My dad asks with a smile. Now I felt like I was gonna throw up all over the table. Why did my dad have to ask the worse question ever possible.

"Well we're kind of working up to it, don't want to rush into things early on." He says , my dad smiles even more. He's probably happy with his answer. But I'm an over thinker and when he said kind of, that broke my heart a little. I just smiled though. They went on talking about hockey and I just sat there. I wanted to join in since I knew everything they were talking about but I was nervous that I would cry if I went to speak. I'm an emotional person.

"Uh sorry I have to use the bathroom , excuse me." I say as stand up from the table. I quickly make my way up into my room. I swing the door open and lock it behind me. Connie looks up at me worried.

"Is it going that bad?" She asks as she sits up on my bed.

"No it wasn't at all , I was having a good time. Jordan is so nice and my parents get along with Adam. My dad asked him if we were dating or working up to it, he said we kind of are. Which basically means he doesn't want me." I say sitting next to her. I was so upset I could cry.

"I wouldn't worry about it, he's scared. Probably of your dad and of getting his heart broken. Don't take it to heart. You guys will get there." She says wrapping an arm around my shoulders. I sigh and lay my head on her shoulder.

"I hope it works out."

"Now go down there and make it work. Make him believe that you are the one , make him believe this time he's not going to be hurt." She says. I smile and walk out the door. I take a quick deep breathe before running downstairs and back to my seat.

"Sorry about that." I say. My mom smiles and fills me in on the conversation.

Moments later a sudden loud bang pulls us all put of the conversation. I quickly stand up from the table.

"Guys it's okay, it must have been the cat." I say. they look at me with a confused expression.

"Cat?" My mom asks.

"Yes the cat." I say smiling.

"We don't own a cat." Josh says confused.

"Yeah but I'm watching Connie's new kitten for the night while she's on a date with Guy." I explain. They seem pretty convinced.

"You should go check on the cat." My dad says with a laugh, "Wouldn't want him to get lost up there." I laugh as I stand up to check on the "cat".

"Connie what the hell was that?" I ask as soon as I get into the room.

"I'm sorry, Guy made me laugh so hard I fell off the bed." She says with an innocent smile as she shows me the screen of her phone. She was on facetime with Guy. He waved to me still laughing, I waved back.

"Just be more quiet, they think it's your new kitten running around up here and causing trouble." I say with a laugh. She laughs and goes back to talking to Guy.

I leave the room and walk back downstairs. I sigh and take a seat. They were all in a conversation, so I sat there quietly. I couldn't help but think about Adam. All I do is think about Adam.

Dinner was soon over and we decided on finishing the monopoly. We all rush out into the family room and sit down ready to play.

"This game is so annoying." Adam says throwing his head back, slamming it against the wall. He groans in pain and rubs the back of his head. Josh and I started dying of laughter as Jordan was quick to rush over to see if he was okay. He shoots me a dirty look as we laugh.

"First you steal boardwalk and then you laugh when I'm hurt." He says cracking a smile. I smile back innocently.

"What can I say, I'm the best at monopoly." I say with a shrug. He rolls his eyes,

"That's it." He says with a smirk. He quickly jumps up and picks me up. He started spinning me around playfully , yelling that he was better at monopoly.

"Hey leave her alone." Jordan says, throwing a pillow at Adam and hitting him in the head.

This started a complete pillow fight with all four of us. Jordan was on my team as we fought Adam and Josh. We were laughing so hard at each other that I forgot about all that's been on my mind. I was having fun with no care in the world. But all fun eventually comes to an end.

"Adam, your mom's here hun." We hear my mom yell from the doorway. My heart drops, I didn't want him to leave. He turns to me and gives me a hug.

"Wanna hang tomorrow? After the game?" I ask as we still hug. He hugged me for a couple more seconds before breaking away with a smile.

"Sure, see ya tomorrow." He says, tapping me on the nose. I smile at him.

Him and Josh handshake and Jordan pulls him in for a hug.

"Sorry I'm a hugger." She says with a smile. I watched Adam leave. Soon after I said my goodyes to Jordan and Josh was going to drive her home. I seen Connie appear at the top of the stairs.

"My dads here." She whispers with a smile. She waves at Josh and Jordan as she walks down the stairs.

"Was she here the whole time?" Jordan asks with a smile.

"Yeah." I whisper with a laugh. Connie quickly hugs me and rushes out the door, Josh and Jordan following behind. I sigh and walk up the steps. I wash my face and get changed into more comfy clothes. I laid in bed for hours, I didn't really sleep that night since I had so much on my mind. Sleep eventually found me , when the sun was coming up. I drifted off into a dreamless sleep, something that is rare for me, with Adam fresh on my mind.

IM SO SORRY THIS SUCKED. i like the next chapter a little more than this one<3
