It was no question that Harry was the more dominant one in his relationship with Y/N. And it didn't just show in one aspect of their relationship, but more so in every aspect. Whether it was making sure she ate or giving her his jacket when she was cold; he took care of her like she was the most important thing in his life.

And she was.

A lot of it had to do with how they first met. It was a night in the city. Harry had just been going out to have a couple drinks with friends. He was sitting at the bar when Y/N came in and sat a couple stools down from him. The music had been loud but Harry had still noticed her presence.

He noticed her tear smeared face, but didn't say anything. Her clothes were not like the normal girl clubbing attire. It was much more casual. She stayed quiet and kept to herself. Harry had tried to focus on his friends but his stare would always come back to land on her.

Eventually a guy came up to Y/N. Harry couldn't hear what he was saying but could tell he was angry. Suddenly, he grabbed onto her arm roughly and pulled her away despite her attempts to get free.

Harry had quickly excused himself to his friends and followed the direction of where the couple went. He pushed open the door. All the music from the bar, quieted down as the door closed behind him.

Few people were talking outside but he could hear the yelling over them.

Harry took the few steps to see around the corner. Y/N was pushed up against the wall. The man screaming at her face. The girl's head sulked down.

Suddenly the man grabbed her throat and jaw, forcing her to look up.

"Look at me when I'm talking to you!"

Harry marched over towards them. "Back off, mate," he said, trying to sound threatening. But the man didn't even acknowledge him. His grip on Y/N's neck tightened.

Harry had never been the most physical guy, who could beat up someone if he had to, but that didn't stop him from charging the man and pushing him off the girl.

Y/N let out an gasp of air as she watched, in horror, the man punch Harry in the face, him falling to the ground. The man then slapped Y/N in the face, her dropping to the ground too.

"We're through! Don't you dare crawl back to me!"

The man backed away. Y/N turned her head to the side.

"We're finished." With that the man left.

Harry ignored the throbbing pain of his cheek and stood up. He quickly helped the girl up.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly with his hands on her arms. He let go once she was standing. Y/N stayed quiet, having a hard time meeting his gaze.

"Do you have somewhere to go?" He asks. Wondering if he could help her get home.

She shook her head slowly.

"Come with me," he tells her reaching out for her hand, "you can stay with me. It's safe."

Y/N pulled away from him. A little bit frightened. She just barely escaped a man who treated her horribly and she didn't know this one at all.

"It's okay," Harry says in the same soft tone from earlier. He grasps onto her hand gently. "I'm not going to hurt you." She gazed into his brown eyes, felt her hand in his, and for the first time in a while she felt safe.

Y/N ended up going with Harry to his place. It was small but could fit two comfortably.

Harry immediately started taking care of her. Giving her food and clothes to change into. He explained everything to her. And once he was done talking they just stared at each other for a couple seconds.
