The front door of the L/N household slams, echoing throughout the building and startling Y/N who had been sitting peacefully on the couch watching TV.
"Ugh, he aggravates me so much!" Y/N recognized the sound of her younger sister talking to herself. The young woman shut off the TV and calmly made her way to the front door.
"Who are you talking about?" She asks while eyeing her sister's distressed state.
"No one," Y/S/N quickly replies. For only being thirteen the girl was already pretty good at the 'express that you have a problem but refuse to speak about it' woman thing.
The girl began to run up the stairs but Y/N caught before she could leave.
"You know if your upset about something you can talk to me."
Y/S/N sighed and sat down on the stairs. The young woman leaned on the railing, waiting for the girl to go on.
"It's this boy at school," Y/N raised her eyebrows, "he just... always annoys me and makes fun of me. It's like he wants to make my life a living hell!"
"What does he exactly do?"
"I don't know. He... messes up my hair all the time and constantly takes my things and refuse to give them back, but then he'll give it back and pretend nothing happened. And he follows me around everywhere, commenting on how I look and act. I don't understand why, I never did anything to him!"
Y/N tried to take in all of her sister's outburst.
"It sounds like he likes you," the young says her final verdict.
"He does not like me," there was a hint of disappointment in her tone, "he just wants to drive me crazy."
"You like him," she finally realizes the situation.
"I do not," Y/S/N denies with a scoff.
A knowing smirk goes across Y/N's face. "Is he cute?"
Y/S/N looks over at her sister, eyes boring into hers. She looks away. "A little," She admits.
"A little?"
"Okay a lot," Y/S/N shouts out, "he has these cute freckles and warm brown eyes and soft auburn hair."
The girl sighs once again.
"What do I do? How do I get him to stop annoying me?"
"Do you really want him to stop annoying you?"
"Kind of, I guess. I just wish he would... you know."
Y/N nodded her head in understanding. Clearly her sister liked this boy and he liked her but neither knew how to express it.
"You want the truth?"
Y/S/N paused for a moment before answering.
"Yes."
"You just need to put yourself out there. Be bold. Show him that your interested."
"How do I do that?"
Y/N goes to sit down next to her younger sister.
"You lean in closer to him when he's talking. Bat your eyelashes a little bit but not too much. Every once in a while casually touch his shoulder or his upper arm. Like this."
Y/N demonstrates on her sister's arm and the girl giggles at the thought of flirting.
"It's the little things that add up." The young woman finishes.
"And that will work?"
"Yeah, I think so. I mean you could just tell him you like him but where's the fun in that?"
