My alarm went off and I woke up and stared at the ceiling for a moment then got ready for school. I wish my mom would let me stay home because it was Jack's birthday he would have been turning 16. I went downstairs and there she was passed out drunk on the couch. I grabbed the bottle that was almost empty and put it in the kitchen then went to school. I walked in with my head down and I could hear people talking about me more than they usually do I ran into someone and I looked up
"Hey sorry are you ok "
I didn't respond
"Hello "
He said and waved his hand with a small smile on his face
" don't even try she's mute "
"What a freak "
Two girls said as they walked by I looked down again and quickly wrote
' Welcome to our perfect school don't forget to bully the schools mute - A'
I slid it into his bag as I walked away.

It was time for lunch I was sitting there when someone called my name I looked around and it was the guy from earlier. He walked over and sat down and said
"I got your note ... I'm jack "
I looked up so fast and my breath got stuck in my chest
" what "
I looked back down and my heart was pounding and then I started to cry a little and he slid a paper in front of me
' are you ok '
I nodded yes then he took the paper and put his phone number on it and I texted him

I looked up and put up a finger to say hold on

  You really don't want to be seen with me I'm not only the mute but the girl whose brother killed himself 3 years ago ( as          
  of a month ago ) and here's the real kicker who's dad killed himself when she was 5 and now her moms a drunk

I hit send and waited for him to run but instead, he stayed and texted
