The Way it Was Before

Bella Swan

While the outside of my mind dashed through the forest, the inside was processing slowly, trying to come to terms with the last five minutes.

He kissed me.

That was all I could think about for about four minutes before I thought I kissed him back.

That swirled around in my mind for roughly three more minutes before I asked myself I question I couldn't completely answer yet- Did I like him?

I walked in the front door nonchalantly and sat down on the couch, ignoring the looks I was getting from Alice and Jasper. I noticed Tanya shooting me not so subtle glares. I heard the door open and saw Edward walking, his eyes growing nervous as he saw me.

I jumped up. "I uh, need to uh, go." I stammered before speeding up to my room and locking the door.

I ran up the stairs without looking back, ignoring all of the stares I received.

"So Edward, what were you up to?" I heard Alice ask mischievously.

"None of your business," he snapped.

Alice huffed and went up to my room, knocking at the door.

I let her in and she sat on my bed. "Spill."

I grimaced. "I'd rather not."

I thought of the rest of the family downstairs hearing us and she understood.

"Hunting?"

I nodded. We jumped out the window and ran roughly two miles before I sat down on a log. Alice flinched and she muttered something about 'ruining a perfectly good outfit.'

I rolled my eyes.

She turned to me and said "Talk."

"What if I don't want to?"

"Bella!" she whined. "Don't be so mean!"

"What do you want to know?"

"What were you and my brother doing out here," she smirked.

"Talking."

"About what?"

"Stuff."

"Bella!" she groaned. "You've got to give me more than that!"

"But Alice, it's my life!" I responded crossing my arms.

She glared and stuck out her tongue. "You're no fun."

I didn't answer.

She sighed before saying "Just tell me one thing?"

"What?"

"Did you kiss him?"

"No. He kissed me," I muttered. Were I human, I'd be blushing lobster red.

She squealed. "I knew he liked you! He didn't think so but I knew it!"

I shushed her. "It's no big deal Ali."

"No big deal? YOU GUYS KISSED!"

"Shhhh!"

She laughed. "Its not like anyone can hear us Bella! You don't have to act so nonchalant! So what happened after."

I shot her a sheepish look. "We kind of pulled away in shock and ran off.
