After spending the whole day hanging around the park, we head back to his place knowing that he has been thinking fairly hard about what I told him. I know he doesn't want to take that giant leap, or at least wants to but is just too nervous to take it. "Sam I am sorry about bringing that up, you weren't fully ready to know, I mean I'm sure you knew about the project right?" He plops himself down on the couch before turning the television on and flipping to the news.
"Yes Grey, I did know about the whole project, just look at the T.V right now" I look up at the screen to see like 5 talking about the likelihood of it failing.
"Yes I know the risk Sam! But don't try to change my mind!" I bring him into a nice big hug while trying to hold back tears. "I love you Sam, you're my closest friend that I've ever had, and I don't ever want to lose you, which is why I ask you to come with me and take on a new journey that you thought will never have happened" I break the hug and look at him nervously.
"Every single minute that passes by is hurting me in some way, because I want to go with you but at the same time, I don't want to hurt my friends and family that I will leave behind here just... fuck it!" Sam runs upstairs and stomps back and forth as he gathers things, before he throws a full duffle bag down the stairs. "We are allowed to carry a bag like this and a backpack correct?" I sit there, speechless that he is going to be going with me.
"Ya know it isn't for like a year right? Also I wasn't expecting you to change your mind that fast, but I really can't complain, 'cause now I have my most amazing best friend with me!" I pull Sam back down on the couch giving his cheek a big kiss when he comes downstairs.
"Ahhhhh, Grey!! Stop giving me sloppy kisses! You're gonna ruin my fur with all your slobber!" Sam tries to push himself out of my grasp, but I pinned him down with my weight.
"Hehe, you aren't escaping unless I let you leave!" I laugh while I keep him pinned down till I get bored enough and let him go. "Okay that was fun but now I am bored" I look over to Sam's Xbox sitting under the tv. "I bet I can still beat you at any game" I say cockily as Sam grabs both the controls.
"Ohh lets go then!!" He yells while leaning back into the couch.
I wake up the next morning with my shirt off, with Sam curled up next to me. I look down and realize Sam is pantless, which are laying on the couch next to where we gamed until we both passed out. "Why does my head hurt" I ask while rubbing my temples as Sam groans awake.
"It feels like I was hit by a car" He says while rolling away from me, and stretching his arms.
"I don't remember what we did yesterday" I chuckle as I see the empty bottles spread out on the table. "I mean I can, but it's somewhat fuzzy to try to remember"
Sam shrugs before sitting up, and holding his paw against the side of his head. "You drank like 3 bottles"
I shake my head slightly, but immediately regretted it because my head feels like it's just been split open. "I shouldn't ever be allowed to touch another bottle of beer"
Sam gets up and goes into the kitchen before coming back with a glass of water for each of us. "I would also like you to know that you tried to have sex with me, but I denied you, then you got all fussy and started complaining why someone would turn down a nice ass like yours and just a whole bunch of damn junk." He says with a chuckle. "I was nervous at first, but then I just started laughing as I saw how you acted"
My cheeks go red as I take a sip of the water. "Well great!" I grumble under my breath. "I tried to get fucked by my best friend, don't I look like a good fur" I chuckle knowing we both are not talking seriously.
"Hey so long as we both had a good time I really am not complaining" He says between giggles. "It's just somewhat embarrassing but hey, we are gonna look back at this moment in the future and remember the good times we had together"
We both start cleaning the mess we made in the two rooms. "Done with my side! I win! HA!" I toss my garbage bag to the side, making the glass bottles clink together when the bag lands on the carpet.
"Whoever said this was some sort of competition? I don't recall making a bet, or even hearing you say that we are gonna race" I roll my eyes have gotten a bit annoyed.
"Oh my god! Why do you make it into some sort of serious thing? I am only messing around, just saying that I was faster than you" Sam tosses the rest of the trash in his bag and slings it over his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, let us just drop this and have a nice breakfast. Does that sound good to you?" I nod my head as we both head back up to his room.
"That's the last thing I remember that was good that happened to us..." I say into the recorder I'm holding between my paws before pausing to take a breath. Only 67 of 245 pods survived the entry into the atmosphere; some ripped themselves apart because of how fast they were going, while others just simply crashed into the ground. Out of all the odds, Sam and I survived without a scratch on us. I turn the personal computer strapped around my lower arm on. "Sam do you know where we landed? I can't really seem to figure out what the place is called; it's just so much dense jungle, and it is really hot and humid" I remove my helmet and take a deep breath of the thick and humid air; orbital scans of the planet said the atmosphere was breathable.
"We landed on a planet called Earth, or what the natives call it to be earth we just know it by project Kelter" He says while climbing out the door and stretching his arms. "But I do have a major question; why did the other pods malfunction or get destroyed, we weren't even supposed to be sent down to the planet until the captain and crew woke up, before they chose to send us all down"
I lean against a tree, trying to wrap my mind around the whole situation. "Well if anything we should head to the nearest pod and see what they know" I say while stepping over a fallen tree "And maybe figure out why I'm confused"
We join a group of furs crowded around a command module, with one officer trying to get everyone's attention. "I am Agent Carter." He starts while stepping up onto the top of his command module "We were sent down immediately after entering the orbit of planet earth. We saw on radar that a multitude of rockets were heading to the main ship, so we launched as many pods out as possible down the surface. The inhabitants of this planet are called humans, we were able to intercept some radio signals and decode them. As far as we can tell, they have pretty much the same culture as we do; but things are quite different" He motions to the screens he has set up. "They seem to be very aggressive and not want peace with us. This is based off the fact that five countries have given a formal declaration of war against us, and the country we landed in has already started deploying its forces around us. Whatever you do, do not let them get their hands onto our technology. These humans seem to love destruction, and their history shows it" We are shown pictures and videos of things that has occurred through their history.
"Currently the captain of our ship has made a secret underground camp in the far north pole and..." I hear what can only be a gunshot from an ancient weapon that hasn't been used in a while in our world. I look over to see Agent Carter fall to the ground, with blood bubbling out of his muzzle; he was shot through his throat. Furs around us have already started to flee after activating their cloaking devices, and using the evasion training taught to us.
I run towards Carter, and strip him of anything humans might try to use against us as I then grab Sam's almost invisible paw, before running deeper into the jungle to get as far away as we can. Tears slowly roll down my face as I lead Sam through the dense forest.
