Great news!
My new friend ilovesothe found a way to convert gifs. She uses Windows Movie Maker, and it works on that software. This might not work on all of them, but I don't know for sure! In order to use the gif, you have to convert it into AVI.

I'll post it in the comments so you can just copy/click on it. In the box that says "video converter" you select what you want to convert to. For gifs, you select "convert to AVI". Then you upload the gif from your computer or enter the URL. From there it's straightforward: click "convert file" and in a few minutes it should download on your computer, ready to use
