You were tinkering with something in the lab, your tools spread out over your desk in organized chaos. Bruce was working on something on his computer, but he kept looking at you and scooting his chair farther away.
"Bruce, are you okay?" You asked, turning in his direction, still holding a tool and some wires.
"I'm, uh, fine," He said, albeit hesitantly.
You raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
He glanced at you and nodded.
"You know I'm not afraid of you, right?"
"Of course you are, everyone is,"
"I'm not."
"And why is that?"
"Because I know you. I trust you,"
He snorted as if it was funny. "I wouldn't trust me. I don't trust me."
"You should. You should have more faith in yourself, too."
"Are you sure you aren't afraid of me?"
"You're the one who keeps scooting away from me,"
"Maybe I'm afraid of me. I don't want to hurt you,"
"Somehow I don't think you will. I'm not afraid of you. You don't have to push yourself away from me."
He breathed in deeply. "Are you always this stubborn about everything?"
"Pretty much," You grinned. "So, can you help me with this?"
He looked nervous for a second before nodding. "Sure. Let me just save this first."
From then on, Bruce didn't try to stay away from you.
