abandoned mall {colby}

i walk with elton, sam, and colby to the side of the abandoned mall

we look up at the giant gap between the roof and the top of the wall, realizing that's our only way of getting in

sam jumps onto the empty bin, hoisting himself up and over the wall, landing a minute later

i look at the two boys "i'm going to need some help"

"i can help you" colby says, making me smile

i hop onto the empty bin before jumping to get a grip on the top of the wall

"put your foot in my hand" colby says

i look down, placing my foot in his hand as he hoists me up

i crawl over and jump down onto the bin before jumping onto the ground

sam high fives me before climbing onto the bin to grab the camera as colby climbs in, followed by elton

elton takes the camera again as we walk around the old and dusty mall

we see a bunch of graffiti and broken escalators

we mess around for a while, laughing and having fun until we hear noises

we all pause, becoming instantly quiet

we hear it again, a loud bang heard in the distance, as if someone dropped something

"i don't think we are alone" sam says

"let's get to higher ground" elton says

we run to the staircase that leads to the roof, running as if the person is chasing us even though they aren't

sam crouches, trying to catch his breath as elton is filming the scenery

i worriedly look at colby "what if they have a gun or something?"

he shakes his head "we'll be fine"

i nod, wanting to believe him, hoping he's right

we hear sounds again from under us, as if they are getting closer

i jump, clinging onto colby

he wraps his arm around me, rubbing my back

"you're okay"

i nod, not letting go as we all turn to the stairs, hearing footsteps

my breathing picks up as i nervously look at the staircase

i see corey and devyn pop their heads out, laughing at us

"we got you good" corey says

"you did" elton says

i desperately try to control my breathing, telling myself that it wasn't real, but i just can't calm down

colby notices, leading me to a spot away from all of them

"you're okay, y/n. you're safe. it was just a prank"

i nod, trying to calm down again

suddenly i see colby leaning in

before i can react, his lips are on mine

i kiss back softly, melting into him as i wrap my arms around his neck

we pull away, breathless

i look up at him, shocked

"wh-why did you kiss me?"

he blushes "i read once that holding your breath can stop panic attacks, plus i really wanted to kiss you"

i blush "well, thank you for calming me down. i enjoyed the kiss"

he smiles "good"

someone clears their throat

i look up, seeing everyone staring at us with wide eyes and open mouths

i blush wildly as i take my hands off of colby, walking over to devyn, playfully hitting her arm

"why would you scare us like that?"

she shrugs "it was corey's idea. and i don't even know why you're complaining, it obviously worked out in your favor"

i playfully roll my eyes at her "oh shush"

she laughs, linking arms with corey

"how about we all ditch this place now and get something to eat" devyn suggests

everyone nods, agreeing, as we make our way back down to where we entered

colby helps me again so i can get up and over the wall

i thank him, both of us so blushy and awkward now

as everyone starts to walk away from the mall and to our cars, i grab colby's hand, pulling us back a little further away from them

"i don't want things to be awkward between us now" i say

he nods, looking sad "i understand. i'll pretend like it never happened"

i frown "why would you do that?"

"because you obviously want to stay friends. it's okay, i respect that"

i laugh, shaking my head "colby it's obvious to everyone that i like you"

he blushes "it's obvious to everyone that i like you too"

i smile "do you want to go out with me tomorrow night, on a date?"

"aren't the guys usually suppose to ask the girl out?"

"fuck gender rules"

he nods, laughing "i'd love to go out with you"

i smile widely, grabbing his hand as we continue to walk towards the cars

"then it's a date"
