During extreme weather conditions, a climber must possess the wisdom to determine when evacuation is inevitable.

With a gentle smile their mother rang the bell, making the children run down the stairs to their meal. They walked into the room, standing behind their chairs as they waited for their father.

A controlled alpine descent begins with the girding of one's loins and the anchoring of the climbing rope to one's enemy, the mountain.

Finally their father appeared, walking straight to his seat. He looked up at Vanya who cowarded under his gaze before yelling the magic word. "Sit!" Eveyone sat down quickly digging into their meals.

The Dülfersitz rappel is the preferred method for descent when rope is the only available tool, but must be regarded as a last resort. Begin by looping the rope through the anchor.

Luther smiled up at Allison making her grin and look down, trying to hide it. Diego craved into the arm of his chair and Klaus rolled what looked like a cigarette. Ben read from his favorite book while Vanya silently ate her plate, nervous from her position across from their father. Five however looked around at them, growing sick of the too familiar routine. Y/n sensed his tension and looked up from her plate towards him. He glanced at her before turning to face their father who didn't notice his stare.

A screen anchor must be used if the rope is to be successfully retrieved from the face of the mountain. Tightly knot the ends of the rope. Once anchored, thread the doubled rope through the legs, front to back, and around the buttocks.

Five continued to stare until finally catching the eye of their father. He stared at Five almost intrigued with Five's bold move. They stayed like this for many moments and Y/n and her mother exchanged looks, knowing this wasn't going to be good.

It is of utmost importance that the rope be drawn under the gluteal muscles, not through the crevice between the gluteus. Proceed by holding the rope diagonally.

Five slammed his butter knife into the table, not breaking eye contact with their father, unable to see everyone's horrified stares. Y/n tore her eyes away from him to the knife that had landed not far from her hand. "I have a question." Five stated bitterly, letting go of the knife that jutted out of the table. "Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during mealtimes. You are interrupting Herr Carlson." Reginald dismissed turning back to his meal. The recording continued to play and everyone just watched Five, waiting for his next move.

Their father's unwillingness to listen or care made Five's blood boil. He pushed his plate away and turned back to Reginald. "I want to time travel." Five demanded threateningly. Their father looked at him unalarmed at his outburst. "No." He replied, no longer entertained by the matter, not that he shown he was before. Just him replying to Five was enough for everyone to feel shocked. "But I'm ready. I've been practicing my spatial jumps, just like you said." Five argued pushing himself out of his chair and appearing beside their father.

"See?" He gestured to himself as proof. Reginald didn't even look up from his plate, unamazed with Five's gift. "A spatial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn." Reginald said waving a hand. Everyone went back to their meals and Five looked angrily at them before locking eyes with Y/n, who gave him a pleading look. She hoped he would just sit down before the situation escalated. "Well, I don't get it." Five mumbled.

"Hence the reason you're not ready." Reginald replied. "I'm not afraid." Five countered. "Fear isn't the issue. The effects it might have on your body, even on your mind, are far too unpredictable. Now, I forbid you to talk about this anymore." Reginald said turning to Five. Five shook his head before turning to run. "Number Five!" Y/n quickly stood and went after him. She couldn't let him do what she knew he was going to do alone. "Number Eight! You two haven't been excused! Get back here!" He yelled not getting up from the table.
