Ch 10 - Second Is Best

Well Tsubaki is overthinking while you are doing your best to enjoy yourself. This is going to be good. I mean have you seen the food?

Tsubaki was still trying to shake off this deju vu surrounding all of her thoughts. You in white drinking out of a coconut isn't helping her situation. It is just her analyzing what to do next. She is having a very difficult time getting through all of it. From her best friend dating on the fly and not letting her in to you trying to sweet your way into her heart. Which anyone more Tsundere is probably someone in a "I hate men" phase (Manolism and feminism are different). 

"So Tsubaki I know you have been in a hectic place at school. What was it today that tired you out?"

"Nothing special. Just did too much."

"Tsubaki worst case you can just let me know. Don't strain yourself. These times aren't supposed to forced to have. Only us trying to let time take its course while we enjoy ourselves. That hard?"

Hard as that coconut that you're drinking out of in my dreams. Hard as the head and inside of it the brain that men besides him are denser then any fudge or layer of cake. Cement yet edible. Around that. "I guess I just wanted an easy day tomorrow so we can be in the office just chatting and going over things."

"School?"

Why wou- I see."Anything that comes to mind Babe." I got to stop using that term if I don't want to lead him on. Otherwise he will just get hurt. Will never do.

"Well Mon Cheri when Master isn't around doesn't make you the boss? The Queen and all."

She nodded. "To a point."

"So are you the Queen because you're pretty or because you're her best friend?"

She gasped. This was starting to get overwhelming. All the compliments and talk about being together. "Not sure."

"Fair enough." You chuckle.

Let's see how you react to this. "Say, you seem to be acting less like a butler and more casual. Reason being?" 

"Well Tsubaki I had a feeling you would notice. It is so much work. I mean I am myself naturally however you had seemed to want me more comfortable around you." Speaking the truth.

"I kind of like both. You are so kind whether you are on the clock for sexy butler man or not." No. Did I just say that? She grabbed her drink and tried to hide her face. Worked well somehow. Good thing the food arrived. The rolls all looked good. But then it was going to see how sharing was going to be. The night was young and you had all the time in the world. Unless she had somewhere to be the priority of the night was to eat sushi and shrimp cocktail along with something in a coconut. 

"How do you like?" She asked.

"Soy and a little ginger. Basic really. Though I have had rolls better with no soy sauce. Rare that it happens but what they put inside the rolls is something that makes your taste buds excited. They are pretty good here. My favorite in town."

Tsubaki took a piece and dunked it before eating. Her eyes widened. "I can see why. The fish, the filling, and it just comes out so smoothly."

"Cheers." You grab yourself a shrimp and dip that sucker before having a bite. "Wow the shrimp is always good here. Prepared perfect."

"How's the sauce?"

"Just right. No lemon or anything added. Though sometimes you just add lemon for the heck of it." (Giggity?). 

"True. Not always needed."

(You'll get one. Eventually. This one is going to be short compared to Rias and such.)

"This is lovely. The best first date I have ever been on. I mean you're telling I'm the first one you ever treated to dinner?"

"Yes of course."

Why is this saying something? "Glad to have the honor."

Well hopefully that changes soon. But it is early after all. Let's see. "I got other places in mind. Though depends on mood. Some friends will order bad steaks. Sinful. Not related to work either."

It was nice just to have the two of you in a mutual atmosphere that didn't involve school or work. Just getting to know each other solely for the purpose of being together. Fully committed on your end yet contradicting on hers. She was afraid of something. Committment? She was a born again Devil. That's life. Interfering with something? You were easy to work around. Though both of you the whole time were looking for something. She got a lot more out of you then anything else.

Arone stopped by after dinner and grabbed the plates. "Any dessert for anyone tonight? We have the finest chocolates available."

*Wow* Tsubaki blushed from this vision. "I'm all set."

"Alright. I suppose just the check sir." You look up at Arone.

"Here you are sir. By all means take your time. Have a pleasant evening." He left the book down and set off for his other tasks.

You just leave your card inside and go for it without looking at the receipt. (I learned about Japanese tipping. Heck in America I've paid for a breakfast for $6-$7 and told the girl to keep the rest of the 20. She deserved it and was having a bad morning. Karma. Gotta give back. But hey I understand if some don't get it. Don't want to offend anyone.)

"Not evening looking?" She asked.

"Nope." You take a sip.

"Don't you have to know?"

"Well everytime I go out I say at most I spend X and I sweat it then. Not later. I took a guess at ¥150,000 and go from there."

"That much? Are you insane?"

"Depends. Take what we had, you and I order another drink a piece, more shrimp, and dessert then it adds quick. You add more to the guessing amount so you don't worry when it's close. I say I had a gap of around a few thousand. Well, fifty plus, thousand. Haha."

For me? "Wow. That's a bit much."

"So would you like me to walk you home too? Just to talk a bit more?"

He means no harm by it. "Sure let's go." No turning back now.

No turning back now. Unless you tell him to screw off halfway there. She saying goodnight at the door or in for coffee?
