I smile and I try,
Try to talk.
He brushes me off
Like his hair lock.
•
Our eyes meet
But he looks away.
I can't help
But feel this way.
•
I want him back,
Back in my life.
But he'll once again pack
Up and leave with strife.
•
My ears yearn
To hear him speak.
My eyes hope
He'll glance, this week.
•
My heart is shattered
In two broken fragments.
I can't pick up the pieces
For fear they will be bent.
•
One shard belongs to him,
For evermore.
I ache as I think of it,
And remember the pain, and sores.
•
The other, I kept.
Kept for someone one day.
Someone who held me as I wept,
And wiped my tears away.
