A Father's Warning

Shaken awake,

Pirates, says he.

Run, you must leave,

Father tells me.

No time to dress,

Nor pack your bag,

You must go.

Creep out the kitchen door,

Stay out of sight.

Whatever you do,

You must not fight.

Take this map,

It'll show you the way.

Run through the night,

But don't sleep during the day.

Don't take any light,

Don't give yourself away.

Run to the safe house,

We'll meet you there soon.

But in case we don't make it,

Leave tomorrow by noon.

Take the buggy,

Disguise yourself.

Hide from them

Use all of your stealth.

Become a new person,

Fake name and identity.

If they find that it's you,

You'll have a price to pay.

But fear not, my child,

All will be well.

Just a precaution,

We'll all make it safe and sound.

But take heed, my dear,

Run and I'll see you soon.

Goodbye for now,

I'll see you before noon.
